Irene floods White House basement

"I walked into the booth this morning and noticed the smell first. It was not fresh," said SRN White House correspondent Greg Clugston on Monday. "Then I realized the floor was wet."

The entire White House press workspace was gutted and renovated in 2007, but the basement's tendency to flood was kept mostly intact. Subterranean-dwelling reporters after big storms often confront power strips and equipment sitting in damp puddles on the floor. It's no one's fault, really -- it's just an old building, and the GSA was prompt in addressing the latest problem.

Still, the power-drying equipment set up in the basement to air out the carpet is blasting damp and smelly-feet odor throughout the workspace. Several others evacuated in protest.

Ha! The guy who said he was going to lower the sea levels can’t even keep his own basement dry.

I guess they didn’t want to install one of those French drain jobbies around the perimeter of the basement? This supposedly can intercept all but the worst flooding, and allow the water to be pumped out.

Really? Not even President Bush's? Not Sarah Palin's? Not The Tea Party's?

Somebody's losing their touch.

Appropriate, that the press corpse is in the basement.

damp and smelly-feet odor

It would probably take a flood like Noah's to get the stench of the MSM out of there. If even that would do it.

This is actually a super massive security leak if you think about it. Surprised it made it past security.

Sheesh, we've been saying that for 2-1/2 years now. What took him so long to notice?

Now the whole world knows that if it can send a hurricane to Washington, D.C. it can flood the White House basement, or at least make it damp. Yup, that ranks up there with state nuclear secrets....
