Federal judge blocks Ala. illegal immigration law
AP ^ | August 29, 2011

A federal judge temporarily blocked enforcement of Alabama's new law cracking down on illegal immigration, ruling Monday that she needed more time to decide whether the law opposed by the Obama administration, church leaders and immigrant-rights groups is constitutional.

The brief order by U.S. District Judge Sharon L. Blackburn means the law won't take effect as scheduled on Thursday. The ruling was cheered by opponents who have compared the law to old Jim Crow-era statutes against racial integration.

But Blackburn didn't address whether the law is constitutional, and she could still let all or parts of the law take effect later. The judge said she will issue a longer ruling by Sept. 28.

The only surprise is that I was sure it was going to be George W. Bush who appointed her. He was way more illegal alien lover than his father or so I thought. Perry will be applauding this decision I would guess.

George H.W. Bush . . .
. . . Reagan's biggest mistake.

You got that right. I refer to H.W. Bush as the anti-Reagan. I wish we could have gotten Jack Kemp instead in '88.

Impeachment is not a tool to be used for ideological reasons. Jefferson tried this and failed even with an overwhelmingly Democrat Senate.

It is designed to arrest criminality not boneheadedness.

If a judge makes a decision that is obviously out of bounds of the Constitution they should be removed.

This doesn’t come as a surprise.

This is just the latest example of the U.S. federal government trying to micromanage our lives here in Alabama - 150 years of Washington knowing what is best for us. We are too stupid to make our own laws here.

Washington, DC and its tax collectors and federal judges are “superior” to all us hicks on the ground here. In fact, I am quite sure that people in Alabama, not to mention people in Georgia and Arizona, which are similarly frustrated with the immigration problem, are swiftly arriving at the conclusion that we can do much better than Washington ... without Washington.

I won’t even pretend here that I have ever cared for the “Glorious Union” of Abraham Lincoln. I have never liked the Federal Reserve, the Los Angeles culture, the New York City financial community, etc., etc.

Long live the CSA!

I agree, a few years ago I told that moron editor of theirs that they had less credibility than the North Korean news service during a spat I had with him over the constant TOS violations that he let’s that mouth breather Carl Hess from Ozark get away with.

Here is one of the last things I ever submitted to the Montgomery Advertiser:

“I just love the hypocrisy of this “news” paper.  Over the past several weeks this paper has proven itself as being fit for nothing more than kennel lining.....  But that may be construed as animal abuse, so maybe not.

Time and time again I have seen Anti-American trash printed in your opinion pages such as “GOP, Blue Dogs Hypocritical on Defense” (May 21, 2009), “Right Wing Threat” (July 3, 2009).  Brandt Ayers labels groups such as neo-nazi’s and the KKK as being “right wing” when the FACTS are they were either formed by the Democratic Party (in the case of the KKK) or they are a leftist organization such as the nazi’s or neo-nazi’s.  Nazi is an acronym for the National Socialist German Workers’ Party.  Socialism is not now, nor has it ever been a platform of the right.

Then there is the constant personal attacks against every known Republican by Carl Hess.  All of which is in direct violation of your own stated policies “Letters that contain libelous or slanderous statements will likely either be edited or rejected.”, “We strive for balance”.  Balance?  What’s that?  It’s pretty sad that tabloids such as the National Inquirer, and The Sun are now proving themselves to be more credible than this kennel liner called the Montgomery Advertiser.”

I WOULD LOVE to see Obama send troops to Alabama to enforce this federal ruling. Even better if he sends troops to Georgia, South Carolina, and Arizona too.

Let the great Barack Hussein Obama flex his military muscle in Dixie for the whole world to see. Then everyone who lives here would finally realize that putting up with Obama is a choice that we make voluntarily.

The Montgomery Advertiser is nothing more than a corporate owned Gannett paper like the Columbus Ledger Enquirer. It parrots the liberal party line like every other “newspaper.”

It is the Pravda of Central Alabama.

Those are opinions which won’t be sufficient for removal. Like it or not the Constitution defines these judgeships as lifetime appointments to be held during “good behavior”. As long as a judge complies with that standard they are safe from impeachment.

There have been several opinions over the course of our history which were unconstitutional in my opinion but that is only an opinion.

Oh God dont give the advertiser the honor of including them on the same level of journalistic excellence and integrity as Pravda.

When are we going to get a Governor that has the BALLS to tell the FEDs to GFYS and ignore their ruling?

That's what I wish would happen as well! 0dumb0 and the socialist RAT bastards demoRATs will simply ignore any judicial ruling they wish to, if it goes contrary to their marxist agenda. I wish for a change, that a single Repub governor, would flat out declare a judicial ruling against them, to be null & void, and to sign it doubly into effect as an executive order. And just watch the RATs howl in outrage! And what is the federal judge gonna do with this type of response from a Repub governor who would do this? Hit 'em with a gavel? I think Repub governors need to openly challenge & declare null & void, federal judicial rulings against state laws. Draw the line in the sand! How many armies does this federal judge command?

I know exactly what you mean! I answered a few of Hess’s diatribes in the past. They actually printed them. But that rascal comes right back as if nothing was ever said. Yesterday’s lies are simply discarded and he simply moves on to new lies. Just like a Washington democrat!

Either they ought to give the guy a column or stop printing his stuff. Also, Sebastian Kitchen and Josh Moon, their “star” reporters, seems to have both graduated from Morris Dees’s Southern Poverty Law Center school of Leftwing Slander and Lies.

No, I stopped subscribing years ago and they keep trying to get me back. My wife will drive to the local gas station to get their Sunday rag for the ads and coupons. I keep telling her it would be better to get the Birmingham rag, but she keeps giving the $2 every Sunday.
