Jeffs, 55, had been fasting for the past three days and became so weak that doctors at the Texas prison where he is serving a life sentence induced a coma...

"Induced coma" is code for drug stupor.

Why would you give drugs to a person who is in a weakened state?

To finish the job. He wanted to starve himself to death and the warden wanted to be sure he didn't change is mind.

So you can stick a tube down his throat and feed him and hydrate him without him fighting or causing trauma. Now why the state of Texas should want to incur the expense, boggles the mind!

Good question. Almost like an "assisted suicide".

Tube feeding would be a reason to induce the coma.

While in the ‘induced coma’ they probably will tube feed him in order to keep him alive to stand the next trial. One has to wonder ‘why’?
