Obama: Recovery from Irene 'to take time'

President Obama warned Monday that the effects of Hurricane Irene will continue to be felt for some time.

Obama, speaking in the Rose Garden, noted that much of New England continues to battle flooding caused by the hurricane, which left destruction from North Carolina to Maine.

Much of the country is trying to “deal with the impact and aftermath” of the storm, the president said before introducing Alan Krueger, his nominee as chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers.

“It's going to take time to recover from a storm of this magnitude,” Obama said.

I’m guessing he’s teeing this up to use as an excuse for more bad economic news this fall.

e.g. We’re still trying to recover from Irene. LOL!

Great graphic!

Rain, rain, go away, come again another day.

Good night, Irene and put a sock in it, Obama.

What a JOKE! There was 100,000 more damage done from Katrina and yet is was supposed to be solved instantly. This is no more than a BAD thunderstorm with minor flooding and he’s acting like this is the disaster of the century. I guess Missouri doesn’t count, nor does the flooding last year. This guy is a miserable failure.

It did not take three years to recover economically from 9/11/2001.

Irene. Earthquake. Arab Spring. Japanese Tsunami.
It’s amazing how he can make claims as to all he’s done and then turn around and say we’re where we are due to all these things beyond his control (he was a major agitator of the arab spring however.)
It’s either you got something done or everything conspired to stop you.

Follow the money ...

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2011/08/obama-on-irene-its-going-to-take-time-to-recover.html

“This morning we’re continuing to deal with the impact and the aftermath of Hurricane Irene… We’re going to make sure folks have all the support they need as they begin to assess and repair the
damage left by the storm, and that’s going to continue in the days ahead,” Obama said in the Rose Garden today.

The president said that the “effects are still being felt across much of the country,” including in New England and states like Vermont, where there’s been significant flooding. Obama signed an emergency declaration for Vermont earlier this morning.

“So our response continues, but I’m going to make sure that FEMA and other agencies are doing everything in their power to help people on the ground,” the president said.

Strange. This is the opposite of what I thought he’s say.

I figured he would take credit for weakening the storm.

That is one of the funniest political cartoons I have ever seen! A textbook case of “a picture is worth a thousand words, and a good caption can be a serious multiplier.”
