Poll: Only 17 percent hold positive view of federal government

Americans have a more favorable view of every other industry — including oil and gas — than of the federal government, according to a new poll released Monday.

Only 17 percent of Americans surveyed have a positive view of the federal government.

According to Gallup, this is the first time the federal government has ranked at the bottom of a list of industries, displacing even the oil-and-gas industry, which came in second to last this year.

The poll results highlight the negative opinion of government most voters have indicated in various polls following the controversial debt-ceiling vote in early August. Most polls have focused on Congress overall, or on the Republican and Democratic parties, while Gallup focused on the image of the government overall.

Americans had a more strongly negative view of the government in this year’s poll than they have since Gallup began polling this question in 2001. In 2001, more Americans had a positive view of the federal government than negative. The government’s favorable rating has fallen since 2004, with a brief reprieve in 2009.

Favorable opinions of the real estate, banking, education, accounting and healthcare sectors have also experienced double-digit declines in Gallup’s favorability polling since 2003.

Americans’ view of the computer and Internet industries has remained steadily positive. The computer industry received a 72 percent positive ranking and came in at the top of the list of 25 industries this year.

They are employed by the Federal Government or one of it's contractors.

I’m guessing that’s the percentage being fed, clothed, and housed by the government.

My guess is that the number of people who think the government should do MORE than they are already doing is closer to 50%.

The reason they are upset with the government is that they don’t believe the government is doing enough or that it is going about it the wrong way.

Polls like this, and presidential approval polls, make me curious about the 17% who approve. What kind of alternative universe do they live in?

Liberals have to be having a stroke over this.
More than a century of trying to convince others to agree that Government is our life, our hope, our all. Only to end up here.

48 million food-stamp recipients divided by 300 million total population = 16%. I'm sure we can scrape together another 3 million Fed employees who want to keep drawing a Fed paycheck, and there you have your 17%!

Well for starters, 12% of the population is Black (97% of whom voted for FUBO), so it’s not hard to round up another 5% of lib/Marxists, loonies & illegals to get to the number.

I have a VERY positive view of the federal goverment; I’m absolutely POSITIVE that there is little or nothing that they can do efficiently or correctly nowadays.

Poll: Only 17 percent hold positive view of federal government

This tells us many significant things:
1. The federal government has become bloated and too intrusive into the lives of ordinary Americans to ignore any longer.
2. It's long past time for the federal government to slither back under its rock and stay there.
3. The current position of the federal government and the out-of-control policies of zero, the Dems and the RINOS is more than enough reason for strict term limits.
4. Our political system is irreparably broken and the people who own this government need to exact stringent controls on the politicians to regain control of the government. The politicians work for US - NOT the other way around!!
5. Spending and all laws produced by the Congress need to be associated with a provision in the Constitution.
6. Congress may no longer pass its Constitutional charter of creating laws to agencies created for convenience by the Congress.
7. Did I mention strict term limits? For EVERY political position and EVERY political staff position?
8. It is way past time for the practice of electing politicans on the basis of their words versus their deeds to end!! Talk is cheap, except when it comes to politicians. ACTIONS speak volumes!!!

Interestingly, there’s a poll here showing 14% of Americans believe the US is on the “right track”. So, on average, about 1/7 of those polled are commies.

I have a very positive view of the Federal Government. What don’t like are the vile, traitorous criminals that have wrested control of it. Its no longer our government.

Pope Benedict XVI has a nice term.He prefers ‘subsidiarity’,the government closest to the people is the preferred government.
