I Earned These Entitlements

I earned these 'entitlements'

I believe that most citizens do not understand what a federal entitlement program is. There are earned entitlements versus a special government entitlement that is given to an individual who needs assistance that is mandated by law.

What is a government entitlement? Note below that some are free and some are not! Why the government is lumping these programs together is beyond me: Only Congress would think this was a proper thing to do. How can a program like military retirement be linked with food stamps? The programs I am associated with should never be diminished by the federal government because they are either paid for by me and my wife or I have earned them. Most citizens believe all the federal entitlements are giveaway social programs and that is not true.

Who is the real theif...the one who has been drawing for decades, and has already gotten their money back 4 fold???.....or is it the one that wants nothing more than their money back???.....or is it the one that says, screw both of you, you ain’t gettin a dime, and I will spend it whatever way I want????

The first two are thieves. The third person is 100% innocent and does not deserve to be stolen from. The second person in that list is not only a thief but a fool of monumental proportions as well, and apparently is demanding that #3 be equally foolish, in exchange for absolutely nothing at all.

89% of public employees get lifetime pensions... many that far exceed any social security payout teachers? why the hell does a teacher get a pension? why??

I know a cop, retired at 50, with $75,000 per year, for life, with top shelf government medical benefits for him and wife.

This is like winning a tax paid lottery for life!

While private sector America is gang raped by government and it's employees.

“the true definition of a parasite is someone who comes along and wants to re-write contracts...and take the retirement money to use for something else”

Ah, but we’re not taking the retirement money, are we? The money doesn’t belong to retirees until after it is taken from productive people.

Things will reach a point where our grandkids and great-grandkids will no doubt treat Baby Boomers with the same lack of mercy that the Baby Boomers showed them.

These people demanding money from their children and grandchildren have no idea of the payback that is coming and is being accelerated by their petulant, childish demands.

Apparently, the Baby Boomer generation never grew up.

“Social Security is not welfare and no one should suggest it is”

Why npt? It is. Set aside for the moment people who are under the delusion that they should get money back because they paid in (which, by the way, is exactly what its proponents wanted you to falsely believe back when they proposed it, and is the greatest trick any government program can invent to perpetuate itself across the generations). We all know some people get paid without paying in at all, so drop it.

Is this a conservative board? I was told it is, but I’m seeing the exact same emotional arguments and personal accusations that left-wingers give me when I tell them the plain mathematical facts of what an insolvent government can provide to them.

“Yeah, how silly of me to think I should count on being repaid for all I paid into the social security system. How utterly selfish, as well.

(/dripping, acid sarcasm)”

The fact that you say that with sarcasm instead of deadly earnest is silly and selfish, and perhaps unforgivably ingnorant. It is also what the Leviathan relies upon, and so long as it continues to do so it will be successful (at our expense).

“However, I did pay my money into it, and I should get it back”

You should get paid out of someone else’s pocket because someone else was paid out of your pocket? Why? I don’t get it.

I recently changed my mind about SS being owed to me.
I “knew” back in high school in 74 that it was not right to take my money and give it to others and thats one reason I always voted against dems.

As someone who knows two wrongs dont make a right, how can I expect young people to be robbed off their hard earned money to pay me? Its not right and never was right.

Gov.con spent the money faster then it came in and we are about to get the bill. It wont be pretty and this country will be far different when the dust clears.

Finally!!!!! someone on the thread that really wants to address the issue....OK, here is my solution...those 50 and up will continue to pay what they are paying, but will receive a slightly lower than promised benefit( they will have the least amount of time to plan and recover ) those 40 to 50 will pay a reduced amount, and will receive an even lower benefit ( they will have some time to recover, and even plan ) those 30 to 40 will pay an even lower amount, and will get even less ( they have the best chance at long term planning ) and those 20 to 30 will pay next to nothing, and get nothing...But, we will write in tax breaks, and some damn lucritive laws to make saving for this group far more benefical than the rest of the groups. This will take a generation to be done with it, but asking people who spent their entire lives planning on this, and just telling them “tough crap, you lose” is dishonorable at best.

This can be paid for by massive cuts in government. The over bloated system has to be axed. We can no longer be the policemen of the world. We can no longer send cash payments to other countries. We can no longer stifle and sacrifice our businesses at the altar of environmetalism. We can no longer guarantee free prescription drugs ( thanks GWB, you a$$ )or free birth control ( gonna have to do that yourself ) or have advanced basketweaving in school....this country needs to refocus, and the first thing is to get the hell rid of any and all career politicians.

If anyone else has a plan, let’s hear it...lets refocus this discussion into solutions...

“Is this a conservative board?”

One would wonder, but such is the power of the Social Security myth (i.e. that you get back what you pay in). No amount of reason can convince most people it was a lie all along.

I take your post as progress. Federal employees, retirees and other check recipients are no longer quite as confident of the payout that they were expecting as they once were.

Now we’re hearing the “You OWE me” refrain.

Next will be the “How can you betray me?”

Followed by the “You cheap taxpayers”

Followed by acting out

Followed by resignation and acceptance that you’re not so special after all when we don’t have the money to pay for what you thought you were getting.

I believe they are living in that big river in Egypt. You know, runs right through Cairo. Oh, what is that river’s name?! You know , it starts with a “D”. I’ll think of it - - - .

>>to date I have paid over 350,000.00 DOLLARS into the system...that is not rubles, or pesos...that is 350K of U.S. dollars<<

There are idiots out there and even those who post here that will spew MSM rhetoric without even looking at those numbers. I’ve posted numbers that include compounded interest and the totals that would have accrued in the years since 1967 when I began to have money withheld from my pay to no avail. It’s still “welfare” to those “well educated” idiots.

Just a little more on military retirement:
1) Move where and when you are told.
2) Low pay , for 20 years I qualified for welfare while in the military. I never requested welfare.
3)Do whatever job you are given with no questions asked.
4) Upon retire you get 50% of your base pay at 20 years. (My retirement was a big $600.00/month).
5 Military retirement is subject to Federal income tax, Medicare tax, and most states tack on a state tax.

If nothing else, Pondstone is persistent.

Our government and we who enabled them are responsible for destroying a once magnificent idea that was America. It simply got too big. We refused to tell them no, you shall not cross this line. Our states refused to tell them no, you shall not cross this line.

“Just a little bit of socialism wont hurt. Trust us! How can you be so cruel for government to not rush to the aid of every skinned knee and growling belly?”

“No amount of reason can convince most people it was a lie all along.”

I think it’s worse than that. I’m not sure there is anything a retired Fed, social security recipient, or other entitlement receiver would NOT do to taxpayers to keep their checks coming.

I am sick and tired of people calling me greedy for wanting nothing more than what I paid into socialist security...to date I have paid over 350,000.00 DOLLARS into the system...that is not rubles, or pesos...that is 350K of U.S. dollars.

Your corrupt government looted SS. While government employees retire in their 50s, with lottery style tax paid retirement pensions, top shelf medical benefits, and now, the government is giving social security to hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens, all while charging your for hundreds of billion for illegal alien medical care and for them to have millions of anchor babies on U.S. soil.

And they tell ya your greedy and receiving entitlements which you're not entitled to?

We've been had.

If you need the government to stick a gun in someone else's face to make sure you get paid, it's welfare. And all the whining in the world won't change that immutable fact.

Let me know when you get to the "acceptance" stage of grief. It sucks being embezzled from, doesn't it? Maybe deficits do matter, eh?
