President Barack Obama on Monday will announced he has chosen Princeton University labor economist Alan Krueger to become the top White House economist, a White House official said.
Krueger would succeed Austan Goolsbee as chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers.
The decision comes as Obama prepares to unveil a jobs package in a speech planned for shortly after the September 5 Labor Day holiday.
With U.S. unemployment at a stubbornly high 9.1 percent and amid fears the economy could slide back into recession, Obama is under pressure to show he is doing all he can to bolster growth.
Goolsbee, a long-time Obama adviser, left the administration earlier this month to return to his teaching job at the University of Chicago. The departure was a blow for the White House as Goolsbee had been a high-profile spokesman on the economy.
Krueger served in the Obama administration as a Treasury Department economist but left that job to return to Princeton last fall.
The nomination requires Senate confirmation but Krueger has an advantage because he has already served in the administration.

” So rather then learn from his errors, Present-ident 0 is going to double down on his failed economic dogmas. “
Of course! You know his life long ideology. He aims to destroy the economy , and rebuild it in HIS own image.
Emperor Obama
” They are handing out appointments based on loyalty to communist/marxist ideology instead of loyalty to this country or true expertise in a field of study or experience.”
Every single time!!!!!!
I'm surprised they didn't say UNEXPECTEDLY high.....................
In less than 3 full years this is the 3rd person in this position. Interesting. And Obama still doesn’t pick someone with real world experience. Typical of a man who has no clue about how to resolve our economic problems and, instead, relies on people who only have theories not a practical business or commerce background. Proving, again, that this occupant in the White House must strongly believe that if you keep doing the wrong thing over and over and you are going to get a different result.
You know the leanings of a guy who goes into labor economics to start with—and then that they’ll only be reinforced by everything he learns ast taught by every instructor and studied with every fellow student. From there he ventures out of academia and into the Obama Administration? Oh boy!
I actually agree with you. We’ve probably got another 6 months until it is too late for him to triangulate himself to reelection.
He's like Al Gore in that regard, once he is firmly entrenched in a theory he refuses to even acknowledge dissent to those views it appears.
well said.
Hey Gold Bugs, here comes the KRUEGERRAND. Oh, maybe not.
Well, look at the positives, this one is not an affirmative action appointment.
Sounds like a worthy deckchair addition, you know, to go down with the ship (assuming he lasts that long).
I have a hunch the questions may be a tad tougher this time.
Ditto!
Oh boy another Princeton Faculty lounge theorist that will follow Obama’s idiot policies.......

Wow, a Muppet type show that mocks MSNBC..Racheal Madcow..Chris Legtingle reporting.
Infact, a whole channel devoted to mocking lefties would be great.
It would probably get 100 times the ratings as the real deal.

Imagine “reporting” on Huricane Irene..wow!
It almost writes itself.
Haha
Anyone want to get it started?
:)
Obama is doing what he was designed to do...transform America...few botherd to ask:
“Into what?”
I can distill this into three quotes:
“There’s another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevski said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution. To bring on this reformation requires that the organizer work inside the system,” Alinksy
“Judge me by the people who suround me” Obama
“When you understand the nature of a thing...you know what it’s capable of” Musashi...the book of five rings.
This is the guy who told Obama that, based on economic factors, we could absorb another "hit" by the terrorists.
