Pat Buchanan regularly serves as Morning Joe's lone conservative in the show's self-described 10:1 ratio of lib to conservative guests. But Buchanan this morning demonstrated that he is anything but a Republican partisan.
Sounding more like Barney Frank after a bad night's sleep, Buchanan blasted President George W. Bush, claiming 43 "broke the Republican party and frankly he broke the United States as a superpower." View the video here.

I did, thank you... and your conditions will come to pass with the Second Coming...until then we must do with what is available to us.
Lol, oh really? So, you think the Republican party became much stronger between the elections of 2004 and the elections of 2008, all the great party building done by Bush and Rove?
Lol, have it your way. Not many still kid themselves about W's second term and what it did to the party. But you still do.
Who is the bigger long-term threat, Iraq or Iran? I say it’s the latter, and Iran has only been strengthened as a result of what happened in Iraq. That being said, at least having a continued presence in Iraq would somewhat negate the Iranian advantage, but if we completely pull out of Iraq, then we gain nothing.
Like I said not necessarily my position, but looking at the empirical evidence the conspiracy guys have a good case.
Want to blow the top off you head watch the show “Brad Meltzer’s: Decoded” on the Statue of Liberty.
For me, a nice day doesn't consist of self-delusion and reality avoidance. I'm funny that way.
He was in a fraternity. So was I. Where’s my cut?
That explains the misery vibe.
Guess you didn’t get in the right crowd within the Frat!!!
Oh man, you mean you were actually responding to my #28 concerning Roberts and Alito? That's even worse. You do realize that W nominated a woman named Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court, don't you. And after much protest and objection from conservatives everywhere, he withdrew that and nominated Alito?
And, yes, there was much talk about W's desire to make Gonzalez the first Hispanic SCOTUS justice. But it just sort of died down and Roberts was nominated for the first opening.
Your "Pure Nonsense" post is pure nonsense and worse.
At least da Vinci's "Last Supper" survived.
From the day the muslims detroyed the World Trade Center George Bush had a once in a millennium opportunity to change the political dynamic. Instead he chose to continue and expand the liberal Big Government agenda, creating several HUGE new entitlements and bureaucracies with borrowed money and taking the liberal line on many imprtant issues such as border security, expansion of the welfare culture, and pandering of illegals.
In his first four year term as President he vetoed ZERO bills. In his last term he vetoed only twelve bills. That is the lowest total of any president since Warren Harding, including those who served one term or less (JFK).

But his biggest failure is that in choosing to pursue a liberal agenda he paved the way and made it possible for Barack Obama to ascend to the presidency.
Who do you mean by "him"? Buchanan or Bush?
Buchanan is a loose cannon--he's good on some topics but nuts on others.
Bush was disappointing in many ways, especially in the second term, but he gave us two excellent justices on the Supreme Court, and saved us from two scoundrels becoming President, Al Gore and John Kerry.
Almost verbatim.
Bill Gertz (touting his book Failure Factory) interview on Hannity and Colmes
Gertz: Well he casts himself as a compassionate conservative and I argue that he's neither. That his administration is neither. He's done tremendous damage to the conservative movement...
Buchanan’s elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top floor.
Truth be told, it was inevitable that the US would be broke as a superpower with its continued insistence to be the worlds policeman and mounting national debt. =.=
Yep. I’m not going to argue with Pat on this one.
If it weren’t for the Iraq War quagmire, Obama wouldn’t have been elected. That’s what propelled his candidacy. Buchanan is absolutely right.
