“Senator McCain added nothing of substance, Cheney writes about the now-famous meeting. It was entirely unclear why hed returned to Washington and why hed wanted the congressional leadership called together.”
I found myself thinking much the same thing back in 2008. McCain made a grand show of suspending his campaign to deal with the debt crisis. It was a big gamble that might have paid off, had he actually followed it up with something substantial at the meeting. Instead, he mostly just sort of sat there.

I’ve never seen someone who knew he was going to be thrashed like McCain did smile as much during an interview the night before the election. His heart was never in it, the nomination was all he wanted. What a disgrace, the worst GOP candidate in history,

Yes as I recall McCain/Palin was slightly ahead in the polls prior to his ill-fated suspend campaign blunder. He was toast after that and the charlatan stole the show to November. Cheney is no dumb dumb.

I didn't hold my nose and vote for the tool McCain. As soon as he was nominated I got my self out of the stock market and hunkered down for a 4 year debacle that will be the Obama administration. I haven't seen the MSM as wet since Bill Clinton was getting BJ's in the white house.
McCain's wife would have been a better President. At least she has a beer distributorship and can run some cars and isn't very hard on the eyes.

If McCain were half as smart as he thinks he is, he would have unleashed Palin as symbol of their ticket.
Instead, he in an apparent fit of selfish ego, did the opposite.
That is why he lost. Because he lacks imagination, and is self-absorbed enough to believe the enthusiasm in the campaign was actually about him.

I hate McCain with the intensity of a thousand suns, he is a worthless air breather. Excellent description - I agree completely. I've been trying to formulate in words how I feel about him & you've nailed it. He is the most dispicable, evil man in Washington - and that's saying a whole lot!
To: TexasFreeper2009
McCain went from POW to traitor, he worked hard at it. He is complete trash.

We learn, and liberals learn.
We’re learning that liberals are all about Saul Alinsky and the politics of personal destruction. More than anyone even believed possible.
Liberals are learning meanwhile, that we are catching on. I believe you’re seeing some rather clever reverse psychology.
The briar patch, in a way. I don’t believe for a minute the left wants to run against Perry. Not for one moment. I’ll confess to supporting Palin, but Perry is a winner. Glad he’s on our side.
We’re getting too sophisticated to fall for their old tricks, so they’re trying a new approach.
Keep trusting your own eyes, not what opponents say. They lie. Always.
