Let me know if bob (cat 3) or Gloria (cat 4) count as “real” hurricanes. Blizzard of 78?... That count? Been there, got the t-shirts.

What’s real is a damn 60 foot monster with exposed roots about to crush the back of my house in addition to the ones that narrowly missed as they fell. Real enough for me thank you.

Btw, as for the Internet, there’s this thing called a cell phone where you don’t need grid power to go on line. Or is that not roughing it enough?

Hype or not, we got our butt’s kicked pretty darn good to make it a moot point; it’s a disaster in my personal book.

“We got a lot of rain here in CT but very little wind; nothing very hard but we do have 700K households in the state still w/o electricity as of about 7:00PM this evening.”

I’m starting to wonder if any of these blackouts weren’t ‘ordered’ by authorities trying to gain back a bit of credibility from what turned out to to be an oversized thunderstorm...

You'd care if you had hurricane force winds. You'd be trying to figure out how to repair tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage instead of skimming your pool and raking crap out of your yard.

Agreed.
LOL!

If he had experienced an even barely Cat 1 hurricane, he might still be trying to find out where his pool is!

I don’t care what you all say. Here in Maine we got BLASTED by Irene as shown in this crazy video:
