Some folks here have never figured out that when you put certain people high up on pedestals, they'll exploit the opportunity to piss on you.
To be fair, no matter the color or gender, every ‘conservative of the moment’ eventually gets torn to shreds here at FR.
Except Sarah Palin, of course. Her endorsement of John McLame was out of “loyalty”, no matter how destructive McLame as been to this country as a US senator. I’m not sure why you chose to focus on color of skin, because if Reagan were running this year, there would be FReepers ripping him to shreds while still holding a candle for Sarah Palin.

If for some reason Barack Obama had chosen to run as a _Republican_, spouting platitudes essentially little different than his usual bombast, those very same “supporters” of folk like Powell, Rice, and Steele would have touted _him_ as yet another example of “the right kind of black” who should have been elevated within Republican ranks and be considered as a potential presidential candidate!
Just sayin’....
I, for one,never worshipped at the feet of Powell or Rice. I did think it took some courage for Watts.
I never liked Colon Bowel. I did like Condi Rice, because she was brilliant. I liked J.C. Watts as a football player. I did not like Michael Steele at all.
