The latest Gallup Poll shows Gov. Rick Perry as the top candidate with tea Party voters, but some Texas tea party activists aren't drinking the "Perry for President" Kool-Aid.
"It is very frustrating when you hear that there is a tea party candidate out there which has zero tea party endorsements," said Katrina Pierson, a key organizer for the Dallas Tea Party and the head of the Garland Tea Party.
Pierson said that while Perry pushes a "pro-business" message on the campaign trail, she doesn't like many of the policies used to promote new Texas businesses, including the Emerging Technology Fund.
The ETF awards grants to businesses, but reports claim some of the awards were given to businesses linked to Perry campaign donors.
"We don't agree with corporate welfare," Pierson said. "We don't agree with subsidizing businesses."

Lots of tea partiers not buying his snake oil.
My faith in the Tea Party is renewed!
Oh dear. Omar Villafranca from NBC says Texas Tea party not drinking Perry kool-aid? Must be true.
...and because NBC has printed such insightful things about the Tea Party we will definately believe them. (sarc)
"Rick Perry has continued to stand up. I think that's who the man is," says Cathie Adams, who has been a Texas GOP chairwoman, national committeewoman and head of the Texas Eagle Forum.
She, like others in the Perry fold, believes he's been consistently conservative on issues that matter to social and religious conservatives most of the time. Like others, she says his support for a mandated vaccine against human papillomavirus was off pitch. HPV, which is sexually transmitted, is the leading cause of cervical cancer; Perry wanted to require the shots for all 12-year-old girls in Texas, unless their parents opted out.
"I worked against HPV," Adams says. "I don't think he was ill-intended on that. He could have listened to more voices."
State Rep. Wayne Christian, R-Center, agrees with that "where he shot himself in the foot was a couple of sessions ago with that vaccination thing" but also says Perry's place as the party's standard-bearer is safe.
"I've talked especially with the Tea Party people, " he says. "If you want to say on the correct side of them, you need to stick with Perry."
.
Why don’t all the GOP “purists” line up the current candidates against a wall and destroy them, one by one? Then, the “purists” will finally be happy, as Obozo takes the oath on Jan. 20th, 2013.
Dittos. I hate that this is from NBC. It’s exactly how I feel.
It kinda sounded like Katrina Pierson is the one who is saying it. Me too!

“The presidential race is heating up. We now have conservatives Bachmann and Cain officially in the race fending off RINO Romney; and Palin and Perry could possibly jump in. My hopes are with Palin, but if she decides not to run I could be happy with Bachmann or Cain. Also, if Palin does not run but Perry does, he’d probably suck all the air out of the race. Either way, Palin, Bachmann, Cain or even Perry would all be excellent alternatives to Obama the commie. Anyone but RINO Romney the big government chief architect of CommieCare!”

And quite a few of us are buying it. I would proudly vote for Perry or Palin.
The Tea Party is a movement not a party, and who the hell is this person to speak for the movement. She has the right to her opinion, but it is her opinion only.
People should heed our warning, just sayin :)
Great cartoon - I hope Perry doesn’t listen to handlers like that, or to the FR folks who post any anti Perry article they can find.
I still ask those same anti Perry posters to reveal exactly who they want as GOP presidential candidate. I’m figuring they really want either Paul or Obama!
“Corporate welfare” is pro-business?

There is one 100% perfect candidate, and she ain’t running (oh, “IMHO” for the usual gang). All others should drop out now, in case she might.
Doesn’t that make you wonder?
How the hell do you call the three term governor of a successful conservative state a rino? He’s pro life, pro guns, he served in the military, he’s an unapologetic Christian. What exactly is your litmus test?
I did rather appreciate that Perry came out far earlier than most in his support of the Tea Party. Gotta give him credit for that. But having attended some of the very first tea-party rallies here in Texas, the support for Perry varied from lukewarm to nil.
Too many big-government missteps and extreme weakness on illegals and border issues. Pretty much soured the tea-party crowd towards Perry. Even now, I never encounter any enthusiasm about Perry running for president from either tea-party friends or just run-of-the-mill GOP-voters, here in my corner of Texas.
That’s why it’s quirkily amusing to see and read so many out-of-state folks rush to him as if he’s some kind of super-conservative stalwart!
