Accumulating all this cash has certainly left the governor with favors to return, and return them he has, say critics. The case most often cited is that of billionaire Harold Simmons, who donated a total of $1.12 million to Perry and in turn secured permission to build a radioactive disposal site in west Texas. Not only did Simmons successfully lobby to have state law changed so that a private company such as his could obtain the requisite license, he also made sure the law would allow the granting of only one such license. Moreover, the license itself was approved by the Perry-appointed commissioners of the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality, and the review process was overseen by the executive director they hired: one Glenn Shankle, who within six months of signing off on the waste facility left TCEQ and secured a lobbying contract worth up to $150,000 in Simmonss outfit.
As Glenn Davis a TCEQ staffer who resigned in protest over what he claimed were irregularities in the approval process put it in an interview with The Texas Observer, Even the Mafia was more cirucmspect than this.

I imagine Goldman Sachs must be feeling really conflicted right about now, choices, choices.
Perrys’ HHS secretary will be Merck
I wish I could laugh, but that comment probably has more truth to it than we can imagine.
I predict that a high-level Merck employee will be far more competent and far less of a national nanny than Sebelius.
The only president we need is one who owes himself, by his oath under the Constitution, to the American people. We already have one who is owned by the people who bought and paid for him.
I take it that reading comprehension isn’t a strong point for the average troll. So, here’s what happens after the first few paragraphs of the story you linked.
“But even as the headlines can and should remain a significant factor as conservative opinion-makers and the primary electorate vet Perry for his presidential run, a look at the institutional and political context of Perrys governorship reveals that there may be less to the Perry-as-crony-capitalist story than meets the eye. Here are five reasons why:”
Read the whole story. It totally disproves the point you wish to make. Nice work.

Merck wants every child on their STD medication
That is sick
RINO Rick’s supporters think the fact that Perry is beholden to big business is an accomplishment. So they would probably approve of this. At minimum, they would defend it.
blah blah blah
I feel sorry for you.
yes, I am sure the $6000 donation from Merck is buying so much influence. Give it up, people.
My vote is for whichever side runs the non-Kenyan.
The Perrybots will be here any minute to say your going to be responsible for Obama’s second term for not falling into line for their boy Rick.
Perry has a lot of skeletons in his closet and they will continue to materialize. He reminds me of one of the Texas wheeler dealer characters James Garner played in the 1960s comedies.
That was the political donation, we have no idea how much was in the brief case, are the land deal, are the stock deal, are the etc, etc, etc, maybe is was just pure old cold cash. But I would bet it was one of the above are a close variation.
When rich Republicans share ideas, foster growth, trust and hire each other, they’re branded crooks. When Dems do it they’re “Progressive partners” and the only growth is GOVERNMENT.
OH NO! NUCLEAR SOMETHING-OR-OTHER!
If a Dem was behind it it’d be “Solving America’s Energy Dependency through Diversified Clean Fuel Solutions.”
Same millions, same cronies, different story.
Is there any politician who doesn’t have an entire rack full of skeletons in their closet?
Then I’ll point them to the fact that there’s more than one choice.
