HAVANA, Texas - Officials with U.S. Customs and Border Protection say agents were forced to open fire on a group of people who threw rocks during a failed drug smuggling attempt across the Rio Grande River last night.
The assault occurred when agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station spotted several boats returning to Mexico laden with bundles.
Agents from the McAllen Boat Patrol unit were called in to assist in thwarting the smuggling attempt. While agents attempted to seize the narcotics, several people on the Mexican riverbank began pelting the agents with rocks, striking one agent in the back of the head.
In an effort to fend off their attackers, agents responded by firing their weapons.
"Assaults on our agents will not be tolerated," Chief Patrol Agent Rosendo Hinojosa said. "Our agents are well-trained and equipped to deal with these types of volatile situations and they will respond with appropriate force against all threats to ensure their safety and the safety of the communities they protect."

Good. I’ll bet their assailants rethought their rock-throwing.

About damn time. We need to be able to defend ourselves, and need lots more violent opposition to the alien invaders.

The story doesn’t say if the Border Patrol connected any of their shots. Were any of the drug smugglers arrested?

“In an effort to fend off their attackers, agents responded by firing their weapons.”
With this administration, the BP agents probably had to fire in the air.
The lowlife that struck the BP agent in the head should have been shot down like a dog.

I’d bet good money they fired into the air as per orders from above. Don’t want to hurt any of our southern neighbors and prospective obama voters. Can’t have that /s

"Mexico has become our Palestine." Interesting observation. There are indeed many parallels, starting with their cultivated tendency to blame the U.S. for all of their problems.

It is so hard for me to believe that his is going on on our border. I retired many years ago from the Border Patrol, first duty station was Calexico, CA. with sector headquarters in El Centro CA, First thing our chief patrol inspector(now it is agent) said was,”I don't want to see any wetbacks that have been beaten, you either bring them in clean, no marks or dead. My how things have changed.

LOL! I’m a PA out of El Centro. Times have definitely changed. The Border Patrol is losing it’s character and it’s characters. No more Bill Jordans or Charlie Askinses.
