Lines stretching out into the streets right now on Manhattan’s Upper East Side to shop at the Food Emporium.

Store security is keeping people from entering the store because it’s too crowded inside.

And the grocery store workers who don’t live in Manhattan can’t go home now that Bloomberg shut down mass transit.

And I suppose that most of them shop every other day for a very small amount of food to tie them over until they go out again.

The few New Yorkers that I knew back in the 70’s told me that they usually shopped on their way home from work or just grabbed a bite on the way home from a cart or a local restaurant.

Heck one guy I knew hadn’t cooked in years. All he had at his apartment was cold cereal and Milk. Of course I have to admit that was before Microwave Ovens were common.

Oh lord, I just dated myself didn’t I?

I live here in Ridgewood Queens and it's nice and quiet. Everyone is just going about here business. It is quite stupid of Bloomie to stop mass transit when the storm isn't supposed to hit until 4 a.m., but never let a good crisis go to waste must be his motto. It probably drives him nuts that he is compared unfavorably to Rudy.
