Ah, the days of apple trees (with fruit that remained wormless without chemical aid) and honeybees (which didn’t even sting) and turtle doves (that left no pigeon poop).

To be fair, the ditty was commissioned by the Coca Cola Company and the grand unification was only intended to be over the beverage. With the biggest feud being whether it should be consumed warm or chilled.

I remember the commercial. Funny, I always thought it was Coke that modified the hippie song, but your comment prompted me to look it up.

I seems Coke waived the royalty rights and the hippie generation used the song minus the phrase "I'd like to buy the world a Coke".

I learn something every day!
