Perryphobia
Politico ^ | August 26th, 2011 | CURT ANDERSON

Posted on 08/27/2011 6:58:43 AM PDT by shield

A wave of fear has come over Washington — and it’s not the earthquake or the hurricane. Self-appointed Republican elites, fretting Hill Republicans and left-wing carnival barkers all have one thing in common: Perryphobia.

It’s an acute condition, with different manifestations. But it has the same root cause – arrogance toward Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

Let’s get this straight — with Congress being as popular as cholera, they think they are going to hurt Perry’s chances by dissing him? Really? Congress is at an all-time low, according to a new Gallup poll, with only 13 percent of Americans approving of “the way Congress is handling its job.”

The fact is that a candidate seeking support from actual humans who vote would be smart to distance him or herself from Congress — and cholera.

Anyway, the arrogance of the left is easy to prove. And it is even easier to prove that they are in full-out Perryphobia. A random sampling of left-wing oracles this week produces these gems: Ed Shultz calls him a racist; Rachael Maddow says he wants to “lynch” Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, and Chris Matthews insists that “he looks like a clown.”

Now for Hill Republicans, whoever they are. A Politico story, “Rick Perry’s loose lips worry Hill Republicans” put Perryphobia on full display.

Let’s start with the left, because that’s easy. Liberals — roughly 20 percent of America, fortunately — are generally very willing to tell you that they know more than you do. If you don’t believe that, try a field experiment today and you will see.

But liberals don’t just talk the talk, they walk the walk...........

You and your buddies have said often that you’re conservative before you’re Republican. So... what kind of rhetorical point are you trying to make when you folks continually refer to Perry as a RINO? If being a conservative is more important than being Republican, WHO CARES if Perry is a RINO?

>>they would be affirming them.

It is the right of we for whom Almighty God hath created the mind free to withhold our “affirmation” - regardless of those who would coerce us otherwise.

I’m still looking for somebody worthy of affirmation.

I considered Senor Rick for a bit - but then I poked about with a stick... and was reminded of this time during Project SOAR, when me and some other Scouts found a burlap bag that had been thrown off a bridge... containing a dead cat full of maggots.

Grecian Formula probably wouldn’t have changed that smell, either.

I do!...it has been stated time and again that we did not come this far weeding Rhinos out of Washington to hand the Pres. over to another one. No to Perry!

Interesting. So, you’re on the sidelines, supporting no conservative.

Yet, you attack conservatives for not being pure enough in your “on the sidelines”, uncommitted self approach

I’ve seen the style. Some will support nobody...and then when the nominee is picked, they whine about how RINO they are.

Try gettin in the and then you will be more credible. Interestingly, the sideliners end up doing the bidding of the real RINO Romney and McCain, in the last election.

Thanks for taking my question out of the context of my entire post. You had to cut the sentence in half to change its meaning.

I'm just trying to see if there is any rational coherence to the arguments being made by the rabid anti-Perrys. All I'm seeing so far is knee-jerk sloganeering.

Some of us get tired attempting to state the facts as they go so easily unheard by the Perrybots...just as they did when facts were presented about Obama. It often seems fruitless because they are unwilling to see the evidence.

Your vote will be appreciated by Obama and the Leftists.

Some of us will attempt to steer the Republican Party to the right. We’re in the fight.

Look we don't spam Palin Threads...we are too respectful to engage in such silly little games...now I would appreciate it if you'd not spam Perry threads. It makes yawl look terrible.

Don't you realize that the left has spent 10's of millions to create infighting within our ranks...they did actually the same thing last presidential election...and we fall for it hook, line and sinker...they are sitting in the backrooms laughing there A$$'s off at how easy we can be manipulated...

Link from Perry's own website (2001 speech):

President Fox’s vision for an open border is a vision I embrace, as long as we demonstrate the will to address the obstacles to it. An open border means poverty has given way to opportunity, and Mexico’s citizens do not feel compelled to cross the border to find that opportunity.

Wait a minute! An "open border" means Mexico's citizens do not feel compelled to cross the border? A nice Utopian vision, but I don't think that's the way it works in the real world.

For some reason, Perry supporters don't reply to my posts.

Why do you care? You are not a Republican and should disclose your involvement of another political party.

Agreed. The Palin coronation is dead in the water and some people are ticked off about it.

Having read the article, which is pretty thin stuff, I would note that the writer or editor is doing Perry a disservice, since the term “Perryphobia,” like “homophobia,” is used to intentionally confuse dislike or disapproval with irrational fear. The article has very few examples of fear. Disdain, maybe; not fear. To use the term “phobia” sinks to the level of branding disagreement as insanity. Oh well, it works for the liberals and marxists.

I don’t see your real name and your political affiliations on your homepage.

But, to answer your question, I care because these folks, Democrats and Republicans alike, are destroying my country, and if they are not defeated, my posterity will be deprived of their God-given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Why do you care?
