Tripoli, Libya (CNN) -- Hundreds of Islamist militants were among the prisoners freed from a notorious Tripoli prison this week, according to a former Libyan jihadist.
The freed militants had been imprisoned in Tripoli's Abu Salim prison by Moammar Gadhafi's regime during the height of the insurgency in Iraq, according to Noman Benotman, once a senior figure in the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group. Benotman said he believes as many as 600 militants may have been among the prison population at Abu Salim.

Gadhafi's regime imprisoned thousands of suspected pro-al Qaeda militants after the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq stoked radicalization in Libya, especially in its impoverished eastern provinces. According to Benotman, those rounded up by the regime included militants who had tried to travel to Iraq and some who had returned from fighting against U.S. forces there.

Seems to be pretty much standard MO for the arab spring. The same happened in Tunisia and Egypt. In fact, Saddam Hussein did the same when we invaded.
EVERYTHING obama does is in furtherance of miltant islam.Everything.He has permission to lie to us infidels if it furthers the cause of jihad.

This is a well-established FEATURE of “uprisings” in Muslim countries. The administration and NATO both KNEW that this was going to happen.
Obama and his allies felt that freeing these al Qaeda militants and sympathizers was a price worth paying to get rid of Gadhafi.
Then again, they still think al Qaeda attacks us because of what we do. Islam, in Obama’s eyes, has absolutely nothing to do with Islamic violence and imperialism.

Add to this the arsenal that was raided (Nerve gas, explosives, SA-7s,etc) and there are some dark times ahead with some well armed terrorists.
No surprise. Most all of us were warning about this since Obama ordered a pre emptive strike that’s not a war in which 10-30,000 have been killed. Now a worse dictatorship comes in the purge all “democracy” or even hopes of it. Way to go team Obama, the man who never ceases to miss an opportunity. If there’s ever any fence sitters thinking Obama might change, this should be a final decider, he wants nothing but the worst for America and its allies. I have seen nothnig to the contrary yet.
