AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Texas Gov. Rick Perry has asked the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for nearly $350 million to cover the costs incurred detaining illegal immigrants in state prisons and county jails. In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, Perry criticized the federal government hasn't been doing enough to secure the border with Mexico, thereby allowing illegal immigrants to enter the U.S. and use taxpayer-funded resources, including prisons and jails. It's a claim the Republican governor has made many times before.
The letter was dated Aug. 10, three days before Perry formally announced he is running for president.

As a matter of fact, she is.
Did you have the courtesy to ping Cincinatus Wife or Jim Robinson?
I did not ping CW because she IS on this thread. And I noticed you did not ping Jim. So is that ok for you but not me? Just asking.
What was your point?
My point was obvious. It's not my fault you lack the ability to comprehend.

Jim. I'm sorry these people feel the need to bother you. I try not to but I thought I needed to respond to this type of thing but I did because the poster pinged you. I know you have better things to do so this will be the last post in which I include you. It will also be the last post in this thread that I respond to from the crybaby poster.
Ok, he doesn’t think the Fed is doing what is necessary to keep illegals out, so he’s going to take matters into his own hands like Arizona. Ooops, sorry, he didn’t think that wasn’t good for Texas.
Did he do the same before this campaign cycle?
Yawn.
That’s funny. RINOS and Republican moderates DO NOT WIN Presidential elections. Period. Not when the people are aware of who they are.
Exhibit A: John McCain, Bob Dole.
Exhibit B: George Bush 41...lost 2nd term. Only reason he won the 1st was because Reagan couldn’t run a 3rd term and people foolishly thought he would continue at least SOME of the Reaganness.....(fool me once)...and he was the next best thing, or so they thought to having RR still in the WH
Exhibit C: Gerald Ford....
Exhibit D: Nixon, who was moderate, yes, BUT one of the frontrunners for Dems had been killed & there’s no telling what way that would’ve went...AND Nixon was a champion to the anti-communist Cold War fervor, and in a time when the Cold War is anything BUT.....it stands to reason people would vote for the Commie-slayer.... although he turned out to suck also, when dealing w/commies...
So in the last half century, 2 moderates were elected but in EXTREME circumstances, yet, a “Conservative” was elected after the last 2 Democrats served in the WH.... Just sayin’
Thank you for a straight-forward reply. I assume you mean “pandering” re “panding”. What I am concerned about is the divisive nature of some comments here. We need to REMOVE BHO in 2012. (Privately, I would love to see him and his ilk removed as of yesterday) Buit what can I say. I hate the man and everyone in his regime.
Excellent! :-)
Reagan raised taxes 11 times as President and voted for the largest tax increase at the time in California history as Governor. Perry didn't.
Reagan gave amnesty to over 3 million illegal aliens. Perry didn't. It's all about one’s perspective, DrewsMum. Based on those events, one can argue that Perry looks more “conservative” than Reagan. Just Sayin’

Actual Jim Robinson Quote:
“The presidential race is heating up. We now have conservatives Bachmann and Cain officially in the race fending off RINO Romney; and Palin and Perry could possibly jump in. My hopes are with Palin, but if she decides not to run I could be happy with Bachmann or Cain. Also, if Palin does not run but Perry does, he’d probably suck all the air out of the race. Either way, Palin, Bachmann, Cain or even Perry would all be excellent alternatives to Obama the commie. Anyone but RINO Romney the big government chief architect of CommieCare!”

Yep. The key:
...Anyone but RINO Romney the big government chief architect of CommieCare!
You're right. What I posted were his words. Just sayin'.
I read that thread where CW was attacked and the new rules laid out, so since this isnt a SP thread then discuss the topic and stop acting like a junior high hall monitor.
Let's see...you initiate dialog with me by first saying, "Grow up and learn how to debate."
And now you say, "Were adults here, act like it please."
I am an adult and I can and do act like one. Moreover, I give everyone the same level of respect they give me. If you want someone to treat you with respect try not initiating dialogue with said person by directing an inane comment demonstrative of your inability to comprehend what it was they were saying. Just sayin'.
After 0bama the right R will win and it’s not Palin. She is the one person who consistently loses in double digits in poll after poll after poll.
Perry isn’t a RINO. He’s prolife, pro 2A, pro states rights, pro business, fiscally conservative, for low taxes, and has the most experience governing out of all the current candidates. Inexperience isn’t going to cut it after the 0bama fiasco.
Agreed! But.. once that IF has expired it's shelf life, the world will actually stop and reverse its rotation. Nothing that Perry will do, will matter.
That was nearly a month ago. More recently:
“I dont care much for Perry...”

I guess the more you know Perry the less there is to like.
Campaign Stunt.
Everyone talks tough on the campaign trail.
The minute they get elected, it’s back to RINOism as usual.
But they do these things because idiots fall for it. *shrug*
You’ve nailed it, Cajun. Have an Abita beer on me!
I'm not happy with any of them, but probably least ill-disposed with Bachmann, Cain, or Johnson (if you can figure that out). To my mind, Perry will say anything he thinks will get him elected but in office he will find a way to let something else happen.
If nominated I'd vote for him but I do not trust Rick Perry at all.
