The effort to normalize homosexual behavior on Americas college campuses continues apace. The Chronicle of Higher Education reports that Elmhurst College in Illinois has become the first institution to include a question about sexual orientation and gender identity on its undergraduate admissions application. The reason? To connect students with campus programs and services.
An applicants answer to the question will also help the college determine eligibility for institutional scholarships given to applicants from underrepresented groups. A student who declares that he consider himself to be a member of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered) community will be eligible for the colleges Enrichment Scholarship, which covers one-third of tuition.
Elmhurst is a college of the United Church of Christ, perhaps the most liberal denomination to still call itself Christian.
If you believe, as I do, that premarital sexual behavior (including same-sex conduct) is both morally wrong and personally damaging, then you will conclude, as I do, that this is an unwelcome development. That isnt my point. My point is this: should colleges with a different view of human sexuality also be free to actualize their commitments? Should they be free to deny admission to applicants who reject the Bibles sexual ethics in word and deed? Should they be free to work lovingly with students who fall into sexual sin? Should they be free to shape their students beliefs about sexual morality?
ADFs Center for Academic Freedom believes the answer is yes, and stands ready to protect the religious freedom of such colleges.
This is what we consistently see out of the left.
They always speak about “equal” rights,
but always push for SPECIAL privileges under that same banner.
Why should someone’s preference for where they rub their jubblies have anything to do with getting their college paid for?
“. . . that he considers himself . . .”?
Very poorly worded. Should be “. . . that he/she/it considers him/her/itself . . .”
I guess if it’s a private college, they can do as they please... I just wish that they wouldn’t call themselves a “christian” denomination.
Some colleges search for excellence.
Others search for “diversity”..
Wanna guess which one has higher academic standards?
And what makes a group “underrepresented”? Does that mean that there just aren’t enough of them around?
And imagine having “gay scholarship winner” on a resume. That will be a thinly veiled dare not to hire someone and risk a discrimination lawsuit, in some states.
The world is sick.
Underrepresented: present in numbers insufficient to apply pressure and exert control.
The homo profs and RAs just want a list of young meat to hit on.
That’s what this is, stripped of the claptrap.
Is the racist rabble rouser Jeremiah Wright in the UCC?
Right...
WOW, the irony of it all. The more they come out of the closet, the more WE get bent over. Assuming this is a public institution, wouldn’t it be discrimination to give preferential scholarship treatment to gays?
Get student loans, don’t pay them back, pay them the “male” figures they want to shackle them, claim you are a poor without a job. There, tank the system the way it likes being tanked... problem “solved”.
yeah, how many people with same sex attraction disorder “should” there be?
That reminds me, I want to make sure that everyone is aware of the left’s “project 10”. They are trying to push the Big Lie that there are 10% of the population that are gay.
My libinlaw awkwardly one night try to interject that “statistic” into our conversation over dinner.
“One, where did that fit into what we were speaking about, and two, it’s not true and you know it.”
If a guy checked “bisexual”, in the belief that meant “would like to have sex with two women at once” — would that qualify him for a scholarship?
I think that that lie came from Kinsey, and has never died despite it’s constant assault from the truth.

True, but one could always claim to be “Bi” and use those very tools against them.
Just say your bisexual and get the scholarship. I think everyone could do that and be honest about it. For example I am a man who normally is attracted to and has sexual relations with women, but on occasion I will perform certain sexual acts on one very special man. I don’t have to tell the college that the special man is me.
I'm with you on that.
It just occurred to me that this type of liberal B.S. was completely unfathomable 20 years ago. Anybody want to predict how long it will be until universities start offering “scholarships” to kids who prefer “bestiality” as opposed to heterosexuality or homosexuality?
