What I mean is that the storm is no longer organized like a tropical storm / hurricane, despite its great size and energy. Take a look at this wind field chart:

The strongest winds are in a blob over the ocean, not wrapped around a central core. Irene is now, for all intents and purposes, a very, very large Nor'easter.

Is the Federal NOAA trying to grab all sensor and model data and shutdown all independent forecasting? Or intimidation that makes them play ball or else?

Like FEMA and HS are pushing down into all levels of local emergency management?

Rain and wind starting to intensify here in NW Connecticut. It's only a matter of time 'til we lose power.
