Funny you'd concede that fact, considering the Rick Perry fan club compares him to Ronald Reagan in every thread. "Rick Perry switched parties? Well REAGAN did too!!"

There is a difference between claiming Perry is another Reagan, and pointing out that Reagan did the same thing that many are saying makes Perry a RINO.

I actually see a lot more Sarah supporters trying to claim Reagan's mantle for her than Perry supporters.

By the way, I'm getting a little tired of conservatives unbridled bashing of GWB. Yes, he was way too much of a big government guy for me, but he did get some major tax cuts implemented, and he presided over the lowest unemployment of my lifetime. And by the way, I can't think of anyone else I would have wanted at the helm after 9/11. So criticize him for his failure to reduce the size of government, but at least be honest enough to recognize what he did right.

Not since Ronald Reagan has a Republican candidate for president evoked such outright fear and loathing from the mainstream media and the far-left.

Oh please. Sarah Palin has been enduring worse attacks every since 2008. Perry get use to the attacks from the left (and other candidates) if he wants to play in the big leagues.

It is interesting that the Palinistas and Paulbots are teaming up with the Leftists to try to crush Perry.

Well I understand your dilema.

Dealing with the truth can be such a painful endeavor sometimes that it becomes necessary to slander those presenting the truth.

Still, the truth is the truth, your feelings notwithstanding.

Rick Perry seems a lot closer to GWB than Ronald Reagan in terms of what kind of leader he is, though Perry fans will continually insist GWB can't stand Perry.

Which is patently untrue as proven by Jeb Bush'es declaration last week.

Actually, what I have read is that Bush's people (Rove, etc) don't like Perry's people, because Perry's people wouldn't listen to the "experts" on how to conduct the campaign when Bush and Perry were running for Gov/Lt. Gov. It is not as clear about how Perry and GWB feel about each other on a personal basis. If you asked Palin about how she felt about GWB, what do you think her response would be? I seriously doubt that she would trash a former president from her own party...

Hmmmmm, Gov. Perry is now being attacked heavily in the media.

Some on FR have announced that Gov. Palin is unelectable because of the 3-year trashing she took in the media. The argument being that although they "really, really love her", the media attacks ruined her, she has too much negative baggage and doesn't have time to overcome it, yadda, yadda, yadda.

I wonder how long it will be before those same folks will announce that Gov. Perry is, sadly, unelectable because of the media attacks he is receiving (and will continue to receive).

Surely they will have to conclude that if they labeled Gov. Palin unelectable because of the media attacks, they must also label Gov. Perry unelectable for the same reason, right?

True, but that is not how it has been presented, concerning the Perry/Bush relationship by Perry Apologists.

It has been all the rage by Perry supporters to pretend that the Bush family does not like Perry and that that is somehow a badge of honor.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

That is way too logical.

I think the reason the right is tazing him is because he is an outsider. Never held a job in Washington, not even sure where Martha’s Vineyard is. I think its a reflection of professional jealousy. They don’t think he’s entitled to so much attention. that’s my .02

Could be a while, because Perry is rising in the polls, not falling.

I'm not a Perry "fan" but am a supporter because I think he can beat Obama.

As for the history of bad blood between the Bushes and Perry, I think you have failed to grasp one of the most important aspects--Perry has been his own man from day one and did not follow orders from Karl Rove.

It is a fact the Bushes and elites did support Kay Bailey Hutchison in her recent bid to unseat Perry...even you will have trouble contradicting that!

Reverse Ron Paul and Thad McCrotter’s ranking in the Ames Straw poll, and Iowa voters pretty much ranked the candidates in the same preference I had:

Michele Bachmann
Thaddeus McCotter
Tim Pawlenty
Rick Santorum
Herman Cain
Rick Perry
Mitt Romney
Newt Gingrich
Jon Huntsman
Ron Paul

As you can see, Perry ranks pretty low on my list, and I’m neither a Ron Paul fan or a “Sarah or bust” freeper (I personally think she won’t run, and I’m OK with that... love Sarah, but the MSM has done a complete hit job on her)

I suspect alot of freepers have similar sentiments. I’ve met alot of people here who dislike Perry and are neither Paul fans nor insistant that Sarah MUST the nominee.

Of course, Perry fan’s have decided if you don’t like Captain Gardasil and his open borders record, you MUST either worship Sarah or Ron. Reminds of when the Romneybots invaded FR after the ‘08 primaries and insisted ANYONE who didn’t want Romney as McCain’s running mate was a “Huckabee supporter” (news to all the Hunter, Thompson, Tancredo, etc. supporters who distrusted Romney).

This is why Perry fans seem to bust a blood vessel whenever they fume “who do YOU support, huh?” and I tell them I’m undecided. It goes against their talking points that Sarah and Ron Paul fanatics are out to “get” poor widdle Ricky and all other conservatives love him.

When you have to go to lefty information to try and make a case is when you know something is terribly wrong going on here.

Lots of drama verbage in this article. But I agree it's abit over the top, and yes we're going to see information from both sides of the aile...the question is if it's factual information or just blowing air.

Perry and Palin will both be attacked....but Perry's the new guy on the block so they're going after him for awhile. Until Palin announces they have to go after whoever threatens Romney most...cause he's their choice for the Rep. Party. The Liberals want Romney in so bad it hurts them to see any other gaining traction.

>> I'm not a Perry "fan" but am a supporter because I think he can beat Obama. <<

Polls show all four of the top GOP candidates (Perry, Romney, Paul, Bachmann) are in a statistical dead heat with Obama. There is zero evidence that Perry is somehow "more electable" than anyone else. The Perry supporters arguement is basically "he's the most electable cuz we say so". That's not swaying anyone else to your side.

>> Perry has been his own man from day one and did not follow orders from Karl Rove. <<

Perry differs from GWB on what policies? Aside from rhetoric (Perry knocking Bush for not shrinking government, despite the fact Perry didn't shrink government either), how are they different? Name one thing Perry did that is something GWB wouldn't have done in the same situtaion.

>> It is a fact the Bushes and elites did support Kay Bailey Hutchison in her recent bid to unseat Perry...even you will have trouble contradicting that! <<

And Al Gore endorsed Howard Dean over LIEberman for President. Guess what? That doesn't change the fact that LIEberman is a loyal Gore yes-man.

Flash backs of McRino....we both remember that one of the only reason’s McRino got the votes he got was because of fighter Sarah Palin.

“Of course, Perry fan’s have decided if you don’t like Captain Gardasil and his open borders record, you MUST either worship Sarah or Ron”

I firmly disagree with assigning hidden motives to someone else. I used to to that vis a vis primaries (circa 08) and have tried to stay away from that except in a general way this year.

Are there good, honest conservatives that just don’t like Rick Perry? You bet. I also believe that the vast majority of the crap that Perry is taking here is while possibly deserved, definately coming from FReepers that a simple search of their posting history will show support Paul or Palin.

Were their favored candidates so attacked, the attacker (in the case of Paul) would be accused of being a statist and worse. Palin supporters would tell the attacker to go back to DU....even if the attacker was simply disagreeing with something that one of her supporters or (heaven forbid) the non-candidate herself said or did.

I firmly hope that Sarah Palin gets in the race and the sooner the better.

HuH? You must have been gone or haven’t ventured onto any Perry threads. The Palin people (if they really are Palin people) are waging an all out war on Perry. And strangely enough, they’re using all the Democrat lies.
