Rick Perry has pole-vaulted over Willard Mitt Romney in the race to become the top Republican to face President Obama on Election Day 2012. Texass governor beat Massachusettss former governor 29 percent to 17 percent, Gallup reported Wednesday, in the second national survey to find Perry leading by double digits among Republicans. Perry deserves this distinction. While he lacks the pro-market purity of Milton Friedman, Perrys record should satisfy limited-government conservatives far more than Romneys.

Ping
That will be cast aside to defeat Obama.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.
No thank you. He supported Algore back in the day. Was a democrat who Karl Rove talked into running for Agricultural commish in Texas. Frankly I don’t trust establishment types anymore.
Freegards,
Lex
And here come the mind-numbed Palinistas to parrot their assigned talking points...
Perry is better by far.
The WEIRD thing is Rasmussen shows Ron Paul CLOSEST of all GOP contenders to beating Obama. Is this really POSSIBLE???
He just looks too old and too way out on foreign policy issues.
He will most likely force on us the repeal of Obamacare, probably also ask us to accept a better climate for job creation and also we could possibly be asked to pay less taxes. How could we possibly stand for all of this!
Perry vs. Romney? Go with Perry (Conservatives are stampeding toward Rick Perry)
Except it’s not Perry vs Romney. Not yet.
I know, it’s getting predictable.
I never even once in all these years wanted an ignore feature, but because of them I deperately want it.
If I could just ignore about 10 of these idiots, the boards would be a lot more pleasant.
Obama must be defeated. We are going to take the most conservative person we can get, that isn’t crazy, and go and do that.
You can sit here and bitch about it.
That’s because Ron Paul is the only candidate on both sides who wants to end the wars. So he gets all the anti-war vote on both sides.
Yawn...
Ron Paul is taking Soros money now. Wonder if Ras is doing the same. Yes, Ron Paul will be 77 at his next birthday. He isn’t interested in actually winning just causing as many problems as possible for the other GOP candidates.
Sigh... Like a broken record.
Ican vote for Perry. Maybe not as happily as I could vote for Sarah palin, but I can vote for him.
No way can I vote for Romneycare.
Love your response. I already have both my cars with a Perry 2012 sticker.
Soros is probably bankrolling him to create another McCain-B.O. showdown in 2012.
My first choice is Bachmann, but its beginning to icreasingly look like our best shot at a good conservative is Perry.
Maybe a Perry/Bachmann or Perry/Rubio ticket is the way to go.
“Ron Paul is taking Soros money now.”
Was there an article on that? It’s news to me.
