IMO, highwing A/C make better seaplanes. They're easier to dock and you can convert them to bush planes. On the negative side, they make a lot of noise and burn a lot of fuel while taking a longer time to get somewhere with the floats attached.

Someone with enough entrepreneurial spuck could set up a company to help other companies monitor the corporate jet activity of their competitors. Investment firms might also monitor corporate travel plans for patterns and destinations which might indicated mergers or market expansion. This privacy violating policy change will have many unintended consequences.

In September ‘09, an article appeared in the Hemet, CA based Valley Chronicle. It was about a vehicle upgrade for the police department of neighboring San Jacinto. The vehicle was capable of reading and recording every license plate in range and feeding that information into a computer programmed to check for “stolen cars, wanted people and others.” All that being done automatically.
This link used to take a reader to the story but the Valley Chronicle, a month or so after this story appeared, started charging for archive access.

I expect technocracy has improved their control over the last few years. Or at least had US taxpayers buy more of these vehicles to be spread strategically across the nation.

I live on a private airpark.
I fly out of my back yard to all over the country and unless I plan on going in to a “control tower or Military opps area I NEVER file a flight plan and try to NOT talk to anyone. Before I go I check weather, and for notices to airmen so I don’t fly over this damned president.
AND I do NOT smuggle nor use drugs.
What I and countless pilots do is legal and safe.

I was asking questions - not assuming (except for believing that all pilots had to file flight plans and contact ATC when in certain airspace).

I have seen news items on tv talking about state/local .gov slugs doing mileage based taxing. So far no joy (for them) but they’ll keep trying. Good possibility .gov wants to do similar things with GA. I have no links to offer but info is out there!
I have no doubts that this administration would love to tax the rich, (those that can afford to fly) in order to fund more outrageous liberal/progressive programs that cater to the favored minority groups.

I stand corrected. I based my comment on my pilot friend who stated that he always had to file a flight plan. Might just be his circumstances.
Crossing international boarders is different. It used to be a phone call no less then 1 hour, and no more then 24 hours in advance, and then a stop a the port of entry (airport with customs).

I fly a lot in the summer. No way in hell do I file a flight plan for a 100 mile jump, no will I in the future. Who is going to enforce this crap???

Actually, there is now judicial precedent from the DC court of appeals, a pretty influential one, that allows police to attach a GPS unit to your vehicle without a warrant. So technically, they came before us before Hood brought them after the planes.
