Wait a sec, regardless of who is going down...how can ALL of the Republican candidates be losing to Obama, when at the end of the survey he still loses to the “generic” Republican?

Either the actual Republican is disliked, or not well known enough yet. For Perry its the latter, for Romney, the former, and for Bachmann, probably the former, unfortunately.

"Wait a sec, regardless of who is going down...how can ALL of the Republican candidates be losing to Obama, when at the end of the survey he still loses to the generic Republican?" I don't for one second believe any poll that gives ZERO more than 10% against ANY Republican.
The polls are a waste of time & energy.

See my post. With Perry 10% prefer some other candidate. With the generic everyone assumes it will be their favorite candidate.

I think that most Independents want someone besides Obama, so generic Republican does well. But, when you start putting names to Republican, then the negatives come along with each candidate, and those Independents choose Obama over the candidates the GOP is offering.

Because, for example, the 10% that says they want some other candidate in the Perry v. Obama matchup are people who plan to ultimately vote GOP but prefer another GOP candidate other than Perry at this time.
