Norquist has been gay friendly for years. And Muslim friendly. And a vector for open borders and amnesty for illegals in Washington.
I don’t know why anyone who calls themselves conservative would pay much, if any, attention to anything he says.
And his promotion of Perry should be a huge warning flag for all.
I've met Grover Norquist. He is a force in republican politics; he shows up at a lot of republican events, and speaks about tax issues.
Apparently he spoke about taxes in March of 2011 in Texas, at a Perry event talking about not raising taxes and not raiding the rainy day fund.
I can find nothing on the web that identifies Norquist as an advisor in any capacity for Rick Perry, much less a "trusted advisor"; I have no doubt Perry would take a Norquist phone call, because he is the head of an anti-tax organization. Many conservatives sign Norquist's no-new-tax pledge.
But do you have a link to something other than an opinion piece that identifies Norquist as being part of the Perry team, or being one of his "trusted advisors" (whatever you actually mean by "trusted"). I'm not saying campaigns wouldn't have Norquist advise them on tax issues, just that I can't find a story about that, except bloggers talking about Perry's "muslim" problem.
