A congressman from Ohio had cops grab the cameras of constituents during a town hall meeting. Steve Chabot, a Republican, had cell phones and cameras confiscated in order to prevent an embarrassing Youtube video from making the rounds, according to Carlos Miller, who runs a blog documenting efforts by the state to stifle the First Amendment rights of photographers. Police said the cameras were taken to protect the constituents. A local television station, however, was allowed to videotape the meeting and the brazen move by Chabot and the cops.

Why not? If they are in his district they most certainly do have the right.
I have every right be at a meeting of a Democrat if he represents my district.
You must first have status as an immigrant, be present here for a number of years, and then apply for citizenship ~ and pass a test.
No visa; no application approval!
The whole "apply for citizenship" thing is such a piece of fraud those of us who know the ropes on immigration look at Perry and ask, seriously, why does that doufous expect us to believe that CR*P. And if he believes it himself, why would anyone on either side of the question vote for him!
Maybe it's the case with Texas voters that they do judge people on quality of hair, palor in the light, texture of the suit ~ this guy, like all the others, has to show us more than that!

Nothing wrong with that. Very good actually. This is supposed to be a place where we throw out ideas and the caution about being taken for a ride on a made up news story is a very good one. Hope I was not harsh.
The only rule he had was NO CAMERAS.
Apparently you haven’t followed the link I provided. Any reason for that?
this is not about him, but about the democrats attempt to harass anyone that comments or makes statements they deem anti-Obama.
People should be able to speak freely at these events but they can’t because Obama union thugs are there with cameras on, ready to get their personal information and threaten them. It has happened all the time, take a look at Joe the Plumber and the people that spoke out during the obamacare town halls. I recall one woman needed to take drastic measures to get away from the harassment and death threats earlier this year. The event was being recorded anyway, just not by union thugs.
First time I go to a political event and somebody films me I will go find their car and do unspeakable things to the seats.
Okay......

Litmus test? Hilarious.
You are correct. Thanks for getting the thread back on track.
This is why I’ve become a registered independent and have a handle apolitical. My blood pressure goes up when I read this.
I can not stomach these partisan politicians (R or D) that have had a decades long career sucking on the blood and taxes of 300 million Americans while these sleaze bags step on our Constitutional rights at every opportunity, just so that they get reelected.
He needs forcibly removed from office as a traitor to the USA in my opinion. I don’t care what Party or what ideology he has.
As long as we citizens are paying their wages , whether they be Congressmen or cops, we should demand the right to photograph them while on their job.
Now that my BP is up, one other thing. It is an outrage that Fox News closed comments on their web site for this treasonous act by Chabot, who is an elected official being paid on our dime. We need a media that works in USA interests, not Democrat or Republican. They (the Parties) are the problem not the solution.
When the rights of we taxpaying citizens are usurped by dead beat political hacks looking for a lifelong boondoggle regardless of Party, it is treason.
When was the last time that our tax dollars supported a PGA event? When was the last time our taxes supported a Congressional town hall meeting?
. These hacks from either Party have no right to keep taxpayers from photographing what they pay for. We need more sunlight and transparency, not less. My emphasis is always the Constitution, not Party.
Like I've asked ~ you one of "THEM" or are you one of "US"?
Cut out the potty mouth or prepare for boarding.
I fight dirty puke. Piece of commie sh** ~ your mother should have been ashamed of that sort of behavior.
Go back to your igloo and brush up on your French history of Limey dominions or Pure Idiot Trudeau.
That's the crowd ~ the pro-abortion crowd ~ who organized the video game against the Congressman. That was to catch the audience chanting slogans about Chabot voting to remove federal financing from Planned Parenthood.
In short, we know who you are ~ you used the enemy's language. Compounding that with abusive language does you no good.
