Obama team to Texas Democrats: It’s time to start attacking Rick Perry

Forget today’s Gallup poll. If you want a solid sign that Perry’s achieved at least parity with Romney, here it is.

“Your feedback will help hold him accountable on the campaign trail, inspire fellow Texans to get involved, and introduce his record — his actual record — to voters across the country,” Hector Nieto, the campaign’s Texas director, told Texas supporters by email blast today. “Your words will remind him that even as he runs, he won’t be able to hide — a lesson he apparently hadn’t learned as recently as last week. That’s when his campaign explained that the positions he took in the book he wrote just nine months ago, like saying that Social Security is unconstitutional and `a crumbling monument to the failure of the New Deal,’ no longer represent his views.

“But what other Americans are just starting to learn about — and, frankly, reject — Texans have dealt with for more than a decade. It’s up to us to make sure he doesn’t get to run away from the truth.”

Nieto’s email says hundreds of Texans have already shared their dim views on Perry, directing critics to an online form where they can suggest their own favorite “failed policies” for which he should be held accountable.

Yes, they really do have an online form just for this on Obama’s campaign site. I’m intrigued by the fact that they’re not content to rely on standard oppo research in this case but want man-on-the-street grumbling from Texas liberals instead.

The Democratic Party was virtually wiped out last election because they were associated with Obama.

The LEFT wants to shake more money out of “useful idiot’s” pockets using Rick Perry as the mean man who would eat their lunch.

It also gets a jump on defining Obama’s opponent and an attempt to suppress Perry’s favorable numbers.

That is pretty weak. Sarah Palin has also been bashed for first supporting TARP and later being against it. A lot of pubs regret supporting it, nobody is right all the time.

Not convincing all things considered and certainly does not add anything to the warts we already know are attached to Perry. I think that you just have a gut level dislike of Perry and dislike usually also means distrust. Nothing wrong with that I trust my gut feelings a lot too.

I can’t shake my instincts on this one. All the Texans I know say to watch out, that the real Rick Perry is not as recent press is portraying him. I strongly feel he’s been a pre-picked candidate, and pre-picked by elites whose interests do not align with those of regular Joes like myself. When was the last time a GOP candidate came out of the blue and got such overwhelmingly favorable press from the socialist/oligarchist MSM?

Perry is being force-fed to us, I don’t trust him and I don’t trust the people in the media who are pushing him on us. He’s safe for the elites and safe for the establishment, which means under Perry us regular Joes are going to continue to get screwed.

Well, obviously a lot of texans like him because he is now serving a 3rd term.

You gotta be kidding, the MSM is giving him good press? He is being slammed relentlessly, haven’t you been reading those slams here at FR, they are being posted by Perry supporters as reasons to support him. Yesterday I watched Jack Cafferty, a typical lefty pressman, slam Perry (and Palin too) as stupid stupid stupid much to the guffaws of his fellow jourbalists. The left hates Rick Perry and that hate will likely rise to Palin level hate soon.

Low blow normy, but you're into that stuff.

Your guy is really still a Democrat. Rove is a false god ~ his baptisms don't count.

Probably asking too much of the Democrats to come up with bad stuff about a Republican. They have such a distorted sense of right and wrong they don't know either when they see it.

That's why they make it all up. Then, when they switch parties they hire a professional political campaign operative to tell them what they need to say to sound like a Republican.

That wasn't a low blow, it's just the truth and people think it's a low blow.

LOL about the Rovian baptism.

one more thing old friend, I try to keep my attacks on other candidates to Perry threads. I come to Perry threads to enjoy the news about my candidate and end up fighting with the Palin thread jumpers. I rarely post on Palin threads. I did go after them one time, but that was after I was told "this is war" by a Palin supporter who had once again jumped a Perry thread. I did it once so they know what it is like.

I have been to several Palin threads since then and have not posted a thing, but if you come to a Perry thread I will defend my candidate against the smears.

You guys need to make arrangements for a socio-politico-religiso caucus control.

Then you could have the Souvrn' - conservative or democrat - Batist group, and there could be a Northern Tier - Conservative or Republican ~ Holy roller caucus, and a Mid-latitude, etc - Conservative ~ Catholic/Lutheran/Orthodox/(etc) caucus.

The Mormon Republicans could have their own caucus ~ and with no less than TWO FULL candidates ~ which is undoubtedly a record for that group.

Still, don't you think it's more fun this way? And frankly, from my point of view (a very historically minded point of view) I don't see why you guys get so excited about Perry. It's not like we haven't had Johnson, Connolly, Bush and Bush running for President in the past. By now we know the routine.

Well, obviously a lot of texans like him because he is now serving a 3rd term.

A review of his campaigns shows that it's not so much that they like him but that his opponents (both primary and general) were very dislike-able. Perry seems to be good at coming across as the lesser of evils.

With regards to the press, it's a classic two-man con. The lefty MSM goes all out on the hate which is intended to provoke the "oh well the lefties hate him so he must be good" reaction. It's a very predictable reaction and appears to me to be obvious emotional manipulation. Note that the facts of his record are not really what gets discussed in the resulting flame war - they get obscured. Flip the parties and it's how Obama won the Presidency without being vetted at all, even for the basic eligibility requirements.

We're all being played here. Perry or Obama it doesn't matter, the same guys ultimately own them both, and once again we the people will get a choice that is little different from the kind of vote that Soviet citizens got to cast - one where they could choose their flavor but not their destiny.

The first Question that the Perry folks should ask is this:

Hey Zero, who’s your Daddy? Meaning was Zero’s Dad a US Citizen at the time of Zero’s birth.

That’ll shut them up real good or drive them completely bat-S##T crazy.

LOL, are you actually paying attention to what you are saying? It is about as convoluted as it gets. It means that the left bashes Palin because they actually like her and want to promote her. That is Norman Bates insane.

Oh get lost. Al Gore in 1980 was pro’bly more conservative than Dubya Bush in 2001, LOL Just like Rick Perry was. And no, Perry doesn’t have poor political instincts. He’s won 11 elections, never defeated. And has had tremendous success as a conservative in every position he’s held.
