Can you comment?

I've combined Atkins and cardio (600 calories worth a day) and weight lifting 5 or six days a week.

I've dropped 20 or 22 lbs. since the Minnesota MS 150 ride in June.

Aiming for 200 as an initial goal, then stretch goal of 190 or 195.

It seems that my weight comes off in steps or plateaus: with each one, I level off, then *suddenly* I lose 3-5 pounds in a week. Almost as though each stratum of fat acts as ablative shielding against weight loss ;-)

Cheers!

When I first started Atkins I noticed periods of sudden weight loss and plateaus. At the time I was pretty heavy training in Masters Swimming. Some of the perceived plateaus may have been development of muscle mass. I remember having issues with the technical suit in my arms and chest. Atkins did mention that there would be weight loss and plateaus.

I'm on my last 8lbs and have intentionally slowed down the weight loss to about .5lbs per week. I weigh myself more now than before. Before I was trying not to gain weight. Now I'm trying to control the remaining loss. I will not be taking swimming back up again until October. Managed to aggravate an old plexus injury and am heeding the Dr's advice on this one. I probably will plateau and add weight after I start exercising again.

I am still amazed how easy it is to forget to eat. Congratulations on the weight loss. For me it was definitely a Red Pill and Blue Pill moment to go very low carb. The "journey down the rabbit hole" has been an eye opener in regards to conventional wisdom, "heart healthy diet", modern medicine and government interference. The war against fat is going to cause more suffering and kill more people than Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot and Mao combined.
