Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said Tuesday evening that the Republican presidential candidates need to do more than attack President Obama if they want to win in 2012.
"It's good to be critical of the president -- I think the president means well, but his policies have failed," Bush, a Republican and the former president's younger brother, said on Fox News. "But just to stop there and say, 'I'm going to win because I'm against what's going on' is not good enough. You have to win with purpose if you really want to make these big changes."
That said, the former governor added that the current field of candidates should be up to the task.
"I think it's a little early to be dissatisfied with the candidates," Bush said. "I think you'll find the candidates will start staking out positions that are responsible and forward leaning... As that happens, I think people will start migrating towards those candidates."
Bush said flatly, "I'm not running," but he added that he may support a candidate before the primaries are up.
When asked about former Utah governor and presidential candidate Jon Huntsman's remarks this week that some of the GOP candidates are unelectable, Bush first said, "I like Jon Huntsman a lot... We need to be a broad party with divergent views."
He added that there's nothing wrong with being conservative, but "if you're a conservative, you have to defend a position, you can't just be against the president."

This is how you "create" jobs -- you create an environment that is friendly to employers!
Rick Perry:
FIRST: "Don't spend all the money!"
SECOND: "Have a fair and predictable tax and regulatory policy!"
THIRD: "Have a legal system that doesn't allow for over suing and make loser pay!"
Jeb who?
IMO, spineless, gutless nice guys come in last. The GOP’s lack of spine and guts and their not exposing Obama during the election gave us this tragedy we’re suffering now.
Right now they can just attack but eventually next year the R nominee better have something to offer that sounds reasonable.
I hope with all my heart that the various Bush family members continue to opine as they have been. Daughters, wives, matriarch, all of them. Keep on talking; keep on instructing. And do, by all means, make an endorsement. Romn- uh, the endorsed candidate will be so pleased.
Here’s a helpful tip, if you want to promote Perry as you obviously do, don’t mention either Bush...unless they are critical of Perry. You just bring up bad memories with them
.....and watch posting Perry stuff on those Palin threads LOL.
Fox News (aka the Voice of the RINOs) has been covering their newscasts with these kinds of people, all pronouncing that we must speak sweetly of Obama, that perhaps all this devastation is not really his fault after all, yada yada. I don’t usually watch much Fox lately, but this huge propaganda push kind of fascinated me. Huge push to save Obama’s hide, and it’s coming from the Republicans as well as the ‘Rats.
He’s right. They can’t JUST attack Obama. They need a plan of their own.
But attacking Obama is a good start and entertaining, to boot!
I agree. If they handle him with kid gloves like McPain did, welcome to 4 more years of the Kenyan Marxist and likely the end of America as we have known it. Take the gloves off, bring it all into the sunshine. Ask him about his SS#, his house deal with Rezko, friendship with Ayers, pull out those Jeremiah Wright videos again, slam him over and over on the failed stimulus, bring up his campaigning for Odinga, dig deep, bring it all out.. balls to the walls time!
What does Perry have to do with this Jeb Bush post?
Jeb Tush is just another New World Order big governemt big spending republican....
The proper way is to do both at the same time. Compare and contrast -- point out what Obama is doing that's causing things to get worse while simultaneously proposing policies that will make things better (or, more to the point, get government out of the game altogether).
Really Jeb? REALLY? Just shut up and go away you Frat Boy Socialist. The whole family is a bed of NWO anti-freedom snakes.
The last time I looked, Gov. Rick Perry is an announced and actively campaigning Republican candidate in the GOP primary.
Jeb is right.
It’s not enough to run against something. The nominee must paint a clear picture of how he will fix what ails us.
Nobody votes for a vacuum. Until 2008, that is — and look what that got us.
I saw him on Cavuto. What a RINO. He was an uninformed cliche. He loves Huntsman and Bloomberg. Nuff said?
Why are we listening to this nobody?
NO MORE BUSHs. We don't care what you have to say. GO AWAY!
What will you say, Jeb, when Jesus asks you why you didn't save Terri Schiavo. I wouldn't want to be YOU.
Enough of this miscreant!
I posted Perry's positions.
Jeb Bush is correct, it would be a mistake to attack Obama.
But he is also mistaken, because you don’t need to attack Obama. You just need to attack his policies and make sure those policies stick to him like glue.
The weight of bad policies will drag him down.
Attacking Bush is exactly what Obama did in 2008. His plan consisted of Hope and Change. Guess what? Obama won! The problem with being too specific is that specificity loses elections.
Just part of a Perry AstroTurf effort.
