I wonder how the sentinels at the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier handled it. I imagine it would be difficult for them to do their walk with the ground moving and shaking under them.

There’s a message to the DC and White House in all this. I wonder if anyone realizes it.

I was working in Hershey Pa at one of the outpatient labs and it shook the walls pretty good for a few seconds. First time I have ever experienced an earthquake. It was pretty amazing.

It hit Pittsburgh. Some older buildings lost some bricks. Haven’t heard of any major damage.

The earth moved in VA and I’ll just bet everyone in DC wants a nice, stiff stimulus to calm their nerves.

I work in Southeast DC. Our building shook pretty good for close to 30 seconds. I’ve lived in the DC area my whole life and have never felt anything like it.

I work in Chesapeake. I felt my chair move a bit and then I felt a rolling motion, similar to a boat crossing a wake.

A coworker said, "That was an earthquake."

I agreed, looked at the USGS site and saw it listed.

I’m in Annapolis this week - had two tremors, a slight one for about 10 secs and then a second more substantial one for 15-20 secs ...

With the first one, I was not sure if it was a tremor or a tree that hit the house [I am in a forested community right now] - but when the second one was shaking all the walls, I knew it was a quake ...

Not bad though, lived in SF for 2 years growing up and we had a couple of about the same size - no big deal ...

We experienced a 5.8 earthquake on August 23, 2011. The damage was not too severe but the President responded the next morning with this.
