SarahPAC released the following statement:
Three years ago DC pundits predicted with glee the demise of Sarah Palin’s political career. This past weekend their tune changed, citing false information that she has made a decision and set a date regarding a future campaign. Any professional pundit claiming to have “inside information” regarding Governor Palin’s personal decision is not only wrong but their comments are specifically intended to mislead the American public. These are the same tired establishment political games that fuel the 24-hour news cycle and that all Americans will hopefully reject in 2012, and this is more of the “politics-as-usual” that Sarah Palin has fought against throughout her career.
PS – Kudos to CNN for setting the record straight and including Governor Palin’s own words.
Here is an excerpt from the CNN article by Peter Hamby referenced above:
Here she is, in her own words:
Q: When is a good time? Do you have a timeline?
Palin: I have said that that August/September timeframe is important for logistical and legal reasons to jump in there, but
Q: So by next month?
Palin: I think that just practically speaking that has to be kind of a drop dead time. Also, in fairness to supporters, who are standing on the timeline, and this is what I have told Todd over and over again, I don’t want to be seen as or perceived as stringing people along, asking supporters, ‘Oh don’t just jump in there on someone else’s bandwagon because I may jump in, so hold off a little bit.’ That is not fair to them. After another month or two goes by, they need to know who it is that they can jump behind. Now more than ever, everybody has got to get involved in this 2012 election. They need to get out there and campaign for their chosen candidates, its all the more reason to hurry up and decide.
A few moments later, there was this exchange:
Q: Will you know by the next time you are here in Iowa whether you will be in, over Labor Day?
Palin: I doubt it. By the next time I am here by September 3? I don’t know if within the next couple of weeks I will be ready for an announcement or not.
Q: So the end of September is no longer a viable deadline?
Palin: No, he was asking about my next visit here on September 3, if I would be ready for an announcement September 3. And I said I don’t know if I would be ready by September 3.
Q: So the end of September would still be your timetable?
Palin: That is still a possibility for a timetable. Yes, definitely.
I haven’t really thought about this before.. but all of the support that we KNOW she DOES have.. and we know $$$ will be rolling in as soon as she announces.. I would bet 90%+ of her staff will be volunteers taking vacation time off to help her out, at no cost to her. I know that if I were in the states, I would.
Pass them my number.. I will allow them to call me.. running up their phone bill by the half minute.. keep them on for awhile and THEN let them know I am not interested :D
They can call back, if they want ;)
Now you are interjecting in a discussion between two other freepers, and also dragging an argument from another thread into this thread — oddly, an argument you refused to have in that other thread.
I quoted the text directly from the poster, and asked what he meant. I believe he is competent to answer, apparently you don’t?
I have no idea what you are talking about now; are you going to follow me around and post nonsense to everything I write now? I thought you were the guy with the perfect college scores who was so smart you laughed at people like a kindergartner, not the creepy stalker poster.
Do you think having a CAUCUS-like label so people who want to talk about their candidate in peace could be left alone is a bad thing? If so, why? If not, why are you arguing it? If you have no idea that was what we were talking about, why show your ignorance?
You are right; it was rather long, I ignored it after the first sentence so that was all I remembered.
I’ve suggested a caucus-like category before; I think a thread like this would be a lot more fun for everybody if it stayed on-point and others knew to stay out of it, but so far I haven’t really gotten anybody else on board. As much as people complain about the interference in their threads, they don’t think there’s a problem with it.
******************************************
That one might not agree with the imposition of a "caucus" designation on certain threads does not necessarily mean that one thinks that interfering with a thread promoting a competing candidate is acceptable.
As with every other thread, imho, some comments are appropriate and some are not.
Is that Ted Nugent?
The one and only! :)
You’re in Japan?
Lol.. I learned the best way to do it is to read who the poster is before you read the context... if it is a know troll, skip it ;)
Not all non-Palin supporters are trolls though.. some have some honest links for info... though NONE of them have swayed my support for Palin ;)
So extreme, that it qualifies as lying.
Have you counted the number of pro-Perry articles vs. the number of Pro-Palin?
It is a lie. Perry supporters flood these pages daily with their pro-Perry propaganda and I have not seen the admins do or say anything to try and stop them.
I agree 100% there.. It has really irritated me for weeks now when someone hijacks the original thread :/
Perfect ;) and I suppose you would be Gandalf?
;)
I thought so.. but he has gained a few years :)
I always knew he was a hard core Conservative :D
And, yes, still in Japan ;) (13+ years now :p)
Wow! 13 years! :)
BTW, apologies for the REB flag on my page... I just got really peeved about another FReeper whose page had a union flag up that also happened to say that he hated southerners.. wish I could remember who it was :p
No thanks. I’m neither a fair weather supporter nor a settler for second? best. If Rick Perry is so darned hard on Obama, where the hell was he the past three yrs while Sarah Palin was on the offensive? Perry didn’t join her in the offensive nor did he have Palin’s back against all vicious attacks against her. Keep in mind that all those attacks against Palin were attacks on all of us.
For that matter, where the hell were the rest of the field of candidates? Romney? etc. They haven’t exhibited leadership. What they have exhibited is politics as usual. You elect any one of them and you’ll have the same damn issues to discuss in the next election.
No apology necessary. :)
