I cannot blame the author when he says that "the Jewish caravan has acquired a lot of improbable and colorful camp followers". Madonna is the perfect example! But I don't think Glen Beck is another camp follower, just like I don't believe he's doing it to become leader of the conservative Christians. I think he honestly believes in Genesis 12:3. ‘I will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse Israel’ and he's putting his money where his mouth is.

Beck is traveling with letters of commendation from Jewish leaders such as Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman...

Genn is a contradiction. Mormons are about as Christian as Jews are and having letters from LIEberman is a great help in identifying Glenn. It would be best if he converted to Judaism.

I do not think this trip is just about religion but in showing support to our allies.

Herman Cain is going there as well. He wrote in his Facebook:

In California today and heading to Israel this week with my wife, Gloria. It has been a lifelong dream of ours to take a Christian pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Will also be attending Glenn Beck’s rally while there.

In any case, Beck doesn’t plan to share the lectern.

From the first night of meetings...

Thank you, FF, I know you are correct. This is from the heart and is as a result of the World pulse these days. Glenn is a man that reads history books like other people eat. Once you see the pattern and you feel you can do something to positively affect the matter, you do it. Glenn's doing it. I think it's outstanding.

I've called and e-mailed 3 Jewish organizations or synagogues and not gotten ONE response. The one I called and got through to...the minute I said Glenn Beck, they changed their tone to negative. I said, "Why put so much emphasis on the messenger, and not value the message and efforts???" I was shocked. I had to ask a neighbor why I keep getting this response. I couldn't understand the resistance. She tried to explain to me that the modern Jewish followers are more socialistic in nature and therefore, that explains their gravitation to the Dem party, as well.

So Sad. I was really trying to help.

Why is Glenn Beck going to Israel?

...well, just damn...why does anyone go anywhere? Maybe he wants to?...and has the money to go?...a little vacation?....or probably, its just as you say..

...Gen 12:3....

...and is giving Israel and Netanyahu a little respect and support, unlike the fearless "leaders" of the Zer0 regime.....

...someone has to do it...why not Glenn Beck?

“These won’t be massive gatherings like the one in Washington last year,” Beck told me in a telephone interview. . In our interview, Beck said that the tour would be attended by “four presidential candidates, half a dozen to a dozen senators and about three dozen congressmen,” although he declined to name any of the participants. A few days later, Josh Rafael, his spokesman, called to say that, in fact, Beck wasn’t sure which high-ranking American politicians, if any, would be there.

We can gather from the fact that Beck's spokesman called a Chafetz "a few days later", that this interview took place well before the event. The question is, how long ago did it take place. When Beck first announced this event, many people jumped on board but then backed off for various reasons.

He specifically mentioned Israeli police concerns that they couldn't guarantee the safety of Beck's guests especially those of the high-profile nature. Beck's venue was moved just a few short weeks before the event for the same reason.

Chafetz wrote a decent book recently so I'm kind of surprised at the somewhat snarfy tone of this column.

Or am I just being too sensitive?

dubbed “Restoring Courage

I'm not sure that's an appropriate theme. Considering the physical environment in which the Israelis live, there doesn't appear to be a lack of courage...thus no need to "restore" courage.

I also think the Israelis are miles ahead of many of our political leaders when it comes to courage.

I like you. I’m gonna propose you a proposition.

I think that the JRW is making a mistake by trying to equate Glenn’s support of Israel with an entirely religious statement.

Beck is making a proclamation about common conservative values; belief in God is just one of these values, but it is entirely secondary to the belief in freedom from tyranny. His goal is to create a global movement based upon these shared values, as a means of fighting back against the global socialist movement.

Glen Beck will NEVER be the leader of Evangelical Christians.

He can't even speak to sentences without cursing.

Because its the right thing to do.

A while back he said something worthy of some thought. He said “Not only will God know who stands with Israel, He’ll know why.”

Actually, I admire Madonna’s love of Israel. You can youtube her concert in the Holy Land where she wrapped herself in the Israeli flag and watch the crowd go crazy. Not too many celebrities would do that.

He’s going to Israel to get his mojo back? How much does he actually know about Israel? (or the Bible, for that matter). Last week he was calling the major archeological site Caesarea “Ka-ZAR-ia.”

He actually thought the Israeli government would have no problem with him holding a pro-Israel rally on the Temple Mount. Now that is deeply ignorant.

Because he’s rich and doesn’t have a 9-5 day job or a house full of children needing his supervision. I’d go to Israel, too, if I could, although probably at a more pleasant time of year.

I was a big Glenn Beck fan, but I have no idea what he's doing now since he left his 5:00pm gig at Fox News. I don't listen to his radio show (is he still doing it?).

I'm still ticked off at Beck for dumping his highly successful - and easily accessible - Fox News show. Now I've had to bone up on how to watch his stupid internet TV show via our television, Roku, etc. And we have to pay extra for the privilege of the inconvenience of watching his show via the internet, both for the equipment and for the subscription to Glenn Beck TV.

Glenn has left so many huge Beck fans like my elderly in-laws scratching their heads at his decision to leave Fox News. They're kind of lost with their daily dose of Glenn at 5pm... they really miss his TV show, as do I.

So... to answer the question at the top of this thread... I have no idea what Beck is doing lately... he's invisible to me these days.
