She may not be an official candidate at this point, but former Sarah Palin will hit the airwaves in Iowa on Monday, and it’s not going to cost the former Alaska governor a dime.
Tea Party of America -- a recently created group that is hosting a Palin-keynoted rally in the south-central Iowa town of Indianola on Sept. 3 -- is launching a major radio blitz in the nation’s first voting state to promote the prospective GOP presidential contender’s attendance at the event.
Charlie Gruschow, a co-founder of the group who confirmed the ad buy to RealClearPolitics, said anyone interested in attending the rally will also be directed to a website where they can reserve free tickets and sign up to receive updates.
Organizers hope that the promotional effort will help them gain a rough idea of the expected crowd, which is almost certain to number in the thousands.
“It’s just so difficult to estimate,” Gruschow said of gauging a head count for the rally. “There seems to be quite a bit of interest.”
Speculation that Palin might use the Labor Day weekend event to declare her candidacy has ramped up on cable news and the conservative blogosphere, but RCP has learned from sources close Palin that an official announcement is unlikely at that time.

Geddes, who was a field staffer for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s 2008 campaign in Iowa before going on to work for former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s now defunct campaign this year, echoed other Iowa political observers in assessing the Palin volunteers’ dedication and quiet competence.
“They are very organized, and the team they have in place is unlike anything I’ve ever seen in this state before -- and I’m totally impressed by the way they’ve gone about it,” she said.

I am really of two minds on this one. The vid she just released along with the pundits hyping this 24/7 has her supporters so hyped that if she doesn’t announce, the roof is going to come tumbling down.
I know people are bussing in from all over the country with the expectation she will announce no matter what the TEA Party guys say. Most of them don’t follow or discuss strategy like we do. They are so hungry and almost desperate to hear those words from her that I fear if she DOESN’T announce, there will be a backlash. Hopes risen to a fever pitch and then dashed like that will have negarive consequences. I don’t know how many will actually get over it.
I said it on the other thread. She might not have planned to announce on the third, but her vid and her flurry of appearances, now the incessant drumbeat of the pundits, might well have trapped her into announcing before she planned to.
I have a lot of faith in Sarah’s ability to adapt to any situation. She actually helped to create this one and the rising excitement of expectation is already out past the moon’s orbit.
She risks a lot if she doesn’t announce. You can’t set people’s emotions on fire and then throw cold water on them.
That is asking alot, even from diehard Sarah supporters. because some will turn that excitement into anger. Would she risk that?
I honestly don’t think she can, unless by some miracle, she can tamp down the rising tide. And I just don’t see that happening.
I posted on this a couple times yesterday. I don’t think she will announce on the 3rd because every one expects that. I think she will wait until it offers her the most strategic advantage and it’s still just to danged early.

And when she does it will do maximum damage to the media and the opposition, sending the best laid plans of the RINOs into complete chaos. She’s running this lead-up like a war and has a military strategist on board. I’d bet the dog on it.

I would think she might actually want to announce in Wasilla where she started. It would be fantastic! So maybe that is what she will announce on the third. Whatever she does, she is going to have to make her INTENTIONS very clear. If she does that, she can hold her support and the excitement will continue to build.
I keep saying people need to “Read” Sun Tzu and all the answers to what she has done and what she will do are there. I want to see her in yesterday too, but strategically, it’s not the right time yet. Let the also-rans destroy each other THEN come in and clean up. Why fight when you don’t YET have to?
All the “I’m sick of waiting” people will forget that in 2 seconds when she announces.
Seems pretty simple to me.

I think it is possible that she underestimated the impact on her supporters of the video and the subsequent sequence of events she has planned on putting into place.
The force is strong with this one.
Definite possibility. But if you gotta goof something up, that’s the kind of mistake you want to make ;)
Just goes to show that her support is anything but ‘soft’.
I think it is a reflection of a genuinely humble heart.
But the fervor is symbolic of the hunger for someone to believe in out here. She has literally become many people’s last best hope. That is a powerful, powerful, almost overwhelming tide of emotion sweeping her supporters right now.
If she doesn’t announce, or at least announce she is GOING to announce, it will devastate a lot of people. It is possible even she did not realize how many people have been waiting for her. The polls don’t really show it. The media has downplayed it. People like me have stayed pretty quiet...just waiting. It might be a bit shocking to her.
At this point, she has it within her power to literally rip the heart out of the TEA Party or make us invincible...because no other candidate, in or contemplating, has that power.
We will work to unseat obama, but the heart will be broken and it will be because it’s necessary, not because we believe.
I think she might announce something like: ‘In a few weeks (or Days) in Alaska, we will make things officials to restoring our Country and we need all of you to start preparing...”
