As it has done many times before the NYT has violated the public trust by reporting false news stories.

because of our 1st Amendment protecting the freedom of the press they can't (and shouldn't) be shut down. But, we can get very, very busy in making them the "Onion" of the media and ridicule the NYT in every way possible. They should be the laughing stock of every journalism school and everyone who believes in delivering unbiased information to the public.
