Does the GOP also practice moral relativism?
World Net Daily ^ | 2011-08-18 | Alan Keyes

(snip)

I'm sure that some among you think that the point of my mental note is that, since all politicians make mistakes in judgment, it's unfair to single out any one of them in particular? But that's not what I was thinking. I was thinking that mistakes in judgment are inevitable when you agree to participate in a system that makes winning the only standard that matters. Mistakes in judgment are inevitable when you base the conduct of politics on an understanding of government that makes "getting things done" the only standard that matters. Mistakes in judgment are inevitable when you agree to be ruled by political priorities that make issues of money and material welfare the only priority that matters. It turns out that these unprincipled endorsements aren't so much about the faults of this or that GOP politician as they are about the fact that the GOP embraces the same corrupt, materialistic, morally relativist understanding of politics now endemic among the Democrats.

For years weak-minded voters have been intimidated with the notion that it's wrong to have a litmus test for candidates. They don't seem to realize that the concept of a litmus test simply refers to the fact that you have standards for judgment that you will not deny. Of course, the judgments I am referring to are moral judgments, the ones that involve issues of right and wrong. When dealing with purely material things, judgment depends on the ever-changing condition of the matter at hand. In regard to such things, it makes no sense to pretend that this or that principle for judgment always applies.

This is where I get really irritated with the "What has Michelle Bachmann done?" question. After all, look at what it takes to be considered "successful" in congress these days. Johnny "The Jellyfish" Boehner is considered successful because he's repeatedly folded like a cheap suit in the name of moving forward.

Returning to my 08 election thought for the GOP. Stop following the left like a cowering dog hoping for crumbs and be an achor in the right.

That's a nice attempt at twisting meanings.

The primary complaint against Bachmann is executive or leadership experience, not accomplishments such as legislation or compromises.

Stop tyring to cloud the issue.

Shoot - people here on Free Republic practice moral relativism.

If you're a libertarian type who doesn't really care about gay marriage - you're a moral relativist.

If you're a libertarian type who doesn't care about abortion - you're a moral relativist.

If you're a libertarian type who only cares about "fiscal issues" - you're a moral relativist.

Let's face it - libertarians have no room to cast stones at the GOP on this. They're just as culpable.

It must be close to a Presidential election as Allen Keyes surfaces again to reap in some campaign donations from the gullible. Allen, just go away.

Alan Keyes talks about moral relativism after he called Hillary Clinton a “carpetbagger” for her NY Senate run, and follows that by himself running for Senate in Illinois when he was not a resident.

Unfreakinbelievable!

Indeed. This is where progressivism gets you. One of the best things that Glenn Beck has done is wake folks up to the dangers of progressives within the republican party, and warn of their agendas.

Not true. The complaint as expressed was her "lack of leadership." It was the accusation that she has a record in Congress of getting nothing done. (Never mind that except for teh past several months, she's been a member of the minority, and even now she's not exactly welcomed in the corridors of power on the GOP side.)

IOW, Michele's too principled.

Bachamnn has about 11 years in legislative office, she has never lead or passed anything.

A conman who has never won an election, who makes his living as a perennial candidate for President and the Senate, lecturing on morals, as bizarre as it seems, that is what it takes to make your living as a cult leader.
