UPDATE: Here is Gene Wangs story from on the ground in China. One excerpt:
What began as a goodwill trip to China for the Georgetown mens basketball team turned violent Thursday night, when its exhibition game against the Bayi Rockets deteriorated into a melee during which players exchanged blows, chairs were thrown and spectators tossed full water bottles as Hoyas players and coaches headed to the locker room at Olympic Sports Center Stadium.

Here’s some stats from the article.
When play stopped, the score was 64-64, even though 23 fouls had been called on the US team, compared to 11 for the Chinese team.
The Chinese are HORRIBLE losers, and there was no way they were going to lose to a US team.
You get 23 fouls called against you, most days you lose.
The team was apparently pulled from the PLA and trained for this game. We didn’t send the Mavericks, we sent the Hoyas.
Chinese knew without more thumbs on the scale they were going to be embarrassed.
As far as war with the Chinese, they have a lot of flaps yet to button down if they wish to project power on the basis of being militarily competitive with the US. In the future? Maybe, but it depends on whether they are going to allow their brightest people to break the bank.
Here in the US, they are. Unfortunately, for the moment, our best and brightest are still going into investment banking, not engineering. Not sure I blame them at this point, what with 9400 former Shuttle Program people on the street.
Another flash mob attack by black youths?
If you look closely the player wearing #1, his name is “Thompson”. Wonder if that’s the coaches kid (John Thompson, Jr)?
Georgetown is where you go if Fordham won’t take you.
The Chinese players basically assaulted the Georgetown players. They were right to exit the court. And as they were exiting stuff was being thrown at them.
I wonder what the gauntlet between the arena and buses looked like?
I know that the aircraft carrier is a little bit of a joke. We've had them since the beginning of WWII and STILL are developing procedures and tactics. My point is that they are NOT an island. That they have developed high number of missiles that have adequate shore to ship and land to air capability. We have them on technology at least we think we do. However if you sit and think about it. Why would China fight a war that we're good at. In other words, why would China fight a high tech war when it has millions of men and many multiples of weapons and weapon systems that we probably know very little about. Especially up near the North Korean border.
The control of the waters off the coast of Taiwan and in the area around Japan will be the next little "negotiations" that the democrat quislings will cede to the Chinese. Why fight for Taiwanese capitalists or Korean capitalists.
We'll be distracted by the Mideast and India-Afghan/Pakistan militarily and our economy in tatters like the EU.
So there we have it, a void of the big fist. The big fist that lets you fly to India, Singapore, Russia, Australia, Africa or anywhere on earth and know that you will not be kidnapped, murdered, robbed or businesses stolen.
What did we do when Venezuela stole US corporate assets in our own hemisphere and allowed IRAN!!! to form a faux alliance. Nothing. We looked weak, we continue to look weak and in spite of everybody pooh-poohing the old fashioned notion about projection of power and how NOW we are way to modern and sophisticated to get into a world wide conflagration, I would have some of you read or look at the archives about WWI and WWII.
We live in a violent world and only men in our society willing to fight and die for us can insure we aren't a nice little footnote about a federal republican form based on the English rule of law and the foundation from Athens, Sparta and Northern Italian forms of government that expanded and collapsed upon itself a couple of centuries after it started like the early Roman Empire.
We'll be a tourist attraction for the world with our quirky little parks, nice beaches, beautiful mountains, slutty women, and generally friendly demeanor. But like most third world countries we'll have corrupt cops, arbitrary law enforcement, "leaders" that can be bought and a self inflated ego about how important we once were.... like the French.
I guess the flash mobs are the new Vandals and we can at least enjoy professional football, NASCAR and mob rule.
probably like the walk for the Cowboys between Veterans Field/Lincoln Financial Stadium and the busses. hahahahahaha
"Nobody messes with Joe!"
Maybe I didn’t see clearly, but it look like at least one Chinese player was beating the downed Georgetown player with a folding chair.
Maybe you need to look at the expression and balled fists on number 5 on the American team. Some Chinese chump is about to get the hell knocked out of him
My point is that with all these images and propoganda has led to HATE. That is just the way it is over there. My wife is still fearful of being near or around anyone who is black. She has gotten better over time but she was really shell shocked by all the propoganda.
Many in the stands came disguised as empty communists.
that's what I said/wrote. That's what they were told or instructed to do. The Americans may or may not have been on their best behavior but that's my point exactly. They "showed" their people that they weren't going to let USA come in and push them around.
By leaving it looks worse.
As for the Orion being forced down.... once again you prove my point. What did we do to China for doing that? Did we do another fly by with some fighters flying CAP around them? Nope. Did we take our battle group and park it in Taiwan and shoot down anything that came closer than 120 miles? nope. In fact the Chinese parked a sub right next to one of our carriers (figuratively speaking)....... Click here
As I also stated earlier, if and when there is going to be a conflict, Do you think that they will fight a "war" allowing us to use our superior technology? Why would they do that? If they assaulted Taiwan, mixed in with the civilian populace by placing weapon systems in hospitals, churches/temples, schools etc.... what are we going to do besides.....er... negotiate? Oh that's right we can "sanction" them... or do "hard politics" that Obama yapped about. f'ing joke.
You think that a war with China is going to be a cake walk, think again brother. Think "logistics" and think about what we can build and what they can build for a soldier. hahahahahahahaha... go get an American Flag and look at the label. We're not even talking magazines, boots, laces, parachute systems, primers, etc....
Here's a little surprise for those that think we're superior to the Chinese military
those kids were fast as rightring.
That is true. China is cruising for a bruising.
Talk about kicking a man when he’s down ...
