Just moments before he was fatally wounded in an unprovoked attack, a San Diego police officer performed one last act of kindness; he bought a child food while buying his own dinner.

Wow.
I could not watch it, I broke down and cried. God Bless that Police Officer and may he rest in peace. Very upset.
Prayers for all the loved ones of this good man... And a pox on the liberals who never met a criminal they didn't want to defend...
He waswell, assassinated..sitting in his car..any leads..clues..as to what/why?
Who shot him?
Sure are a lot of folks around here with that sentiment.
In their eyes, it's impossible that anyone could be motivated to become a LEO for reasons other than wanting to terrorize their fellow citizens and shoot random dogs.
The guy who shot the cop had earlier shot another innocent stranger in the face at an In and Out Burger restaraunt for no reason. He used a shot gun. First victim survived but is really messed up.
RIP my brother.
The hunted down the cold blooded coward murderer and shot him to death. I understand the suspect had lots of holes in him.
Here is some radio traffic from the event.

SAN DIEGO — Radio traffic between San Diego Police dispatch and officers in the field reveals new details about what happened after an officer was shot in City Heights on Saturday.
Officer Jeremy Henwood was shot at 45th Street and University Avenue. That is where police first learned of the shooting from a citizen on Henwood’s police radio.
“All officers, all officers, there’s an officer shot. There’s an officer shot. He’s still breathing,” said an unidentified woman who did what she could to help Henwood.
Seconds later, a San Diego police dispatcher said, “11-99,” the police radio code for an officer down.
“45th and University, 45th and University, 11-99,” said the dispatcher. “I don’t know who that is on the air that put it out.”
Within seconds, police from nearly every agency in San Diego County rushed to the scene. The first there was a fellow San Diego police officer.
“I need medics [to] make it to 45th and University,” he said. “I got an officer down with a gunshot wound to the head near the left ear.”
As medics rushed Henwood to the hospital, a massive search began for the suspected shooter. Then, at about 6:15 p.m., San Diego police dispatch received a call that would lead officers to Dejon White, who is suspected in Henwood’s shooting.
“I have a call that just came in from 4074 48th Street,” said the dispatcher. “Anonymous caller said that a guy by the name of Dejon a black male wearing a t-shirt and jeans [and] owns a black Audi with rims pulled into that location, told the RP [reporting party] that he was running because he shot a cop.”
A little more than a minute later, a San Diego police helicopter spotted White.
“Over the apartment complex he just put a shotgun in the driver’s side,” said the helicopter pilot. “Let’s expedite some units over here.”
Units converged on the scene. Police said White emerged from his car with a shotgun.
Shots fired [and] more shots fired,” said the dispatcher. “That’s going to be at 4000 48th Street.”
The dispatcher went on to say, “The suspect was called 11-44 at the scene. He’s not being transported.”
11-44 is the police code for a dead body.
RIP Officer Henwood and prayers up for the family. This tears my heart out.....our son is an active police officer, our son-in-law is an active police officer both in large cities in Texas. My Hub retired from Houston PD after 29 years and I thank God for his safety and pray for the safety of son and SIL and all peace officers in this country. They’re all targets of a crumbling, heartless society where the perps have nothing to fear. Have they any leads on the vermin that killed this wonderful American hero???
The assailant was killed later in a shootout with police. The citizens who immediately responded after seeing what happened called in on the slain officer’s radio and got out a pretty good description of the suspect vehicle. He was tracked to a hotel and shot and killed after grabbing for the shotgun.
That's a perfect description of my BIL, who's just retired from a county sheriff's department in CA. When he was on patrol and saw young kids running wild on the streets, he used to engage them in conversation and give them baseball cards. He said most of them had no father at home and had no experience interacting with a male authority figure. He always hoped he might make a small difference in the lives of one or two of them.
I’m sorry. I just read that they did indeed find the perp and he got his just desserts. Won’t be wasting tax money on him to draw another breath.
Part of the problem is the Entitlement culture that has permeated all levels of society, in part due to the internet.
In this case the suspect was killed in a shootout a little after the shooting.
The really cool thing is your sweet love probably made a difference in the lives of many children. Goodness starts with one person... You’re blessed. Thanks for sharing.
Officer Henwood was a Major in the Marine Corps Reserves. He recently returned from Afghanistan.
nice gesture that my Marines posthumously promoted him to Major..
Seriously?!
That’s pretty damn big brush you are weilding. Suggest you use more care when brandishing it about.
We call them as we see them, and unfortunately there are more than a handful of bad apples in law enforcement. Just because we criticize the bad LEOs doesn’t mean that we don’t appreciate the good ones.
The officer that was shot was one of the GOOD ONES and the world is a lesser place without him.
