...ALWAYS leaves off the first line, which shows it is a command for JEWS, not Muslims:
““That is why We laid it down for the Israelites that ...”

and all the “nice” verses about the “people of the book”, are abrogated and replaced by the later sword verses, like Sura 5, 8, and 9. those are the last 3, and therefore MOST relevent, in all of Islam.

devout Muslims ARE commanded, not simply to never take unbelievers as a friend, but to actually terrorize and kill them. (after first giving them the option to convert...)

Sura 5:32 is mansukh, it is in the Mecca passages where Muhammed sounded almost Gandhi-like. These suras are abrogated by the Medina passages, which call for jihad against every unbeliever who does not embrace Islam or submit to it and become a 2nd-class citizen and pay a tax and submit once a year to humiliating public rituals.
