Rick Perry backed an already-climate-crusading Al Gore in '88

Texas Gov. Rick Perry may have forgotten a thing or two about the Al Gore presidential campaign he helped lead in 1988.

In an interview with an Iowa radio station on Monday, the Republican presidential contender explained his role as the Gore campaign’s Texas chairman by saying that “this was Al Gore before he invented the Internet and got to be Mr. Global Warming.”

Look, Politics is Principles now, Pragmatism later, sit out and you’ll have thrown away your choice and lost your ticket so you’ll have to stay on.

; )

(love that song)

Perry is and has been in a full scale war with the EPA for years. ‘88 was before Gore walked barefoot over coals. This is ridiculous.

If Palin dropped off the political map tomorrow, I’d still regard Perry as a shyster. Please tell me why you think Perry scheduled his FIRST-TIME mega prayer meeting a few days before he announced, if there is a sincere bone in his body. “Calling all CHUMPS!” bOB

Golly, I remember when Carter was running against Reagan. The word on the street was that Reagan would start a nuclear war his first day in office. We really believed that. I voted for Carter.

I was in the 4th year of my tour in Germany in 1980. My neighbors were certain that Reagan was going to start WWIII, just as you did.

Fortunately, my German was good enough by then that I was able to instruct them in American civics and nuclear policy.

Shortly after Reagan's inauguration, I was invited to dine at the stammtische at the local gasthaus. The stammtische is the table designated for family members and friends of the family. Although I was likely invited as one of their best customers, I'd like to think it had to do with our discussions during the 1980 elections.

Was getting interested in this guy, now after hearing this..naaaah. Sorry, but anybody who supports an absolute sociopath like Al Gore has a serious flaw in character judgement.

I knew right off the bat back in the ‘80s Gore was one. I worked with too many to not know. Gore has THE classic trait of one: No understanding of emotion, compassion or even love, so he acts like he does.

One telling scene was when he did that kissing thing with his wife on stage. Complete make pretend and her pushing away was telling. He is a sociopath plain and simple, which is why he does not care about the harm he does to other people or even entire economies. As long as it serves Al Gore it’s OK.

And just think how close this guy came to being POTUS!

I think he has a bit of P.T. Barnum in him.

Earth in the Balance was published in January 1993. Don't you think it took a few years to write? Let's just guess 5 years, and it was an idea for a time before that.

I love 95% of all Al Stewart songs. Al has unintentionally kept me sane through dark times. There is no trouble in the world worth mentioning when I’m enjoying his music. Thanks for a day brightener!!!!! Bob

Well 30 thousand attended and it rained for 3 hours in Plano Texas, where I live, on the morning Perry announced. God must have considered him sincere.

Today Rasmussen has a poll with Perry beating Romney by double digits. Better get to praying and ask God what the hell he thinks he's doing, doesn't he know Perry is a big lying fake rino???!!!

‘88 was before Gore walked barefoot over coals.

Not so quick, normy. Take this wiki entry FWIW:

***********************

After joining the U.S. House of Representatives, Gore held the "first congressional hearings on the climate change, and co-sponsor[ed] hearings on toxic waste and global warming."[57][58] He continued to speak on the topic throughout the 1980s.[32][59][60] In 1990, Senator Gore presided over a three-day conference with legislators from over 42 countries which sought to create a Global Marshall Plan, "under which industrial nations would help less developed countries grow economically while still protecting the environment."[61]

“It’s the Kenyan, or our guy.”

A whipping or a beating, not much of a choice. Perry sucks! He is a Democrat in RINO skin.

Obama wanted mandatory health insurance and government takeover of health care.

Perry demanded 12 year old girls be forcibly inoculated with a controversial vaccine.

Obama wants open borders with Mexico.

Perry sponsored the much hated Trans-Texas Corridor that would have given Mexico an express lane through Texas into the US and taken massive amounts of private property to do it. Once stopped by the Texas legislature he claimed he stopped it!

I’m not seeing much of a difference here.

I am sorry but I do my own research. I learned that in my genealogy research. In fact, I spent hours on stuff on him yesterday and last night. Found some interesting things on him and Al Gore.

Lots more went to see Obama during ‘08. Numbers don’t impress me; good ideas do, and authenticity does. Bob

Well, you must be able to see that JOBS and JOB CREATION are the biggest issue in the election?

A state with less than 10% of the population creates more than 45% of the jobs over the last few years. Nah, not much difference.

Whada'you? Some kind of a nut?

Al Gore was a mainstream Demonrat, which means a liberal, as shown by his 9% ACU rating--actually less conservative than Patrick Leahy of VT.

And as for his father being an "old conservative Democrat," the old man was liberal by Southern standards, and took money from Stalinist fellow-traveler Armand Hammer.

Also, Algore was a punk son of a political dynasty who loafed his way through Harvard, flunked out of law school, dropped out of divinity school (where he really went just to shorten his military obligation). Yet Rick Perry thought this worthless phony was Presidential material!

Fast forward to the 2008 campaign (only 4 years ago) and Rick was still supporting a liberal for POTUS: Rudy Giuliani. 3x-married, pro-abortion Rudy, being backed by a so-called "Christian social conservative."

Texas’ economic advantages pre-dated Perry. To his credit, the golden goose was not slaughtered under his governorship. I have dozens of reservations about him, however, and they are growing daily. Bob

This is what I know.

Perry has been good for Texas.

I was mad as all get out when he tried to mandate gaurdasil (sp?), or when he pushed for the Trans-Texas corridor - so were a bunch of us out here in West Texas.

We told him what we thought and guess what? He listened. This is more than I can say for zero and his bunch of hooligans.

Texas was a Democrat-only state...and only really started to turn Republican in the late 80s and 90s.

Nonsense. Republican John Tower was elected Senator from Texas in 1961, when Perry was 11 years old. Republican Bill Clements was elected Gov of Texas in 1979, 10 years before Perry changed parties.
