Despite his repeated assertions that he’s not going to run for president in 2012, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan is “strongly considering” getting in the race, according to a report Tuesday.
The Weekly Standard’s Stephen F. Hayes reported that Ryan, a Republican, is vacationing in Colorado this week, where he is discussing with his family the possibility of a run.
“He’s coming around,” a source told Hayes about Ryan’s thinking.
Ryan, a leader on budget issues, is often mentioned in the same sentence as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie as a “dream” candidate that GOP donors and activists would like to see join the race.
Karl Rove, the George W. Bush deputy chief of staff, said Monday that he thinks Ryan is taking the prospect seriously.
“I think Chris Christie and Paul Ryan are going to look at it again,” he told Sean Hannity on Fox News. “I’m starting to pick up some sort of vibrations that these kinds of conversations are causing Christie and Ryan to tell the people who are calling them, ‘you know what, I owe it to you, I’ll take a look at it.’”
Just last week, Ryan stoked more speculation when his political action committee, Prosperity PAC, said it will run advertisements in Iowa to defend his proposed “Path to Prosperity” budget.
A Ryan spokesman downplayed the speculation: “While grateful for the continued support and encouragement,” Conor Sweeney told Hayes, “Chairman Ryan has not changed his mind.”
Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol has already called on Ryan to run. Just last month Kristol, mentioning Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, said “Ryan–Rubio or Rubio–Ryan would be a very strong ticket.”
Ryan would throw us socons under the bus, I’d rather have Michelle Bachmann. Rick Perry is a distant second as he seems more conservative than Sarah.
“I’m starting to wonder if Palin has been waiting on Ryan to decide, and maybe vice versa who knows. That would make a powerful ticket.”
My thoughts exactly.
“Well he can do what seems to be the new trend now...Keep his seat, run and when he wins, give the seat up!”
Sarah will wipe the floor with anybody they put up. Perhaps the more folks the better.

THAT would be obama's worst nightmare. Ryan took him apart during that staged Obamacare "summit." obama would descend into full-blown wee-wee mode.
Ryan is the only one besides Palin that I can REALLY excited about. However, whomever runs in the end gets my vote over OBozo.
Palin/Ryan, or Ryan/Palin has a nice ring to it.
So long as she can avoid getting into a debate that involves specific details. That's not her forte.

There is no evidence of that, Sarah can/will take all questions when she gets in!
I hope so.. and we'll see. Up until now, when interviewed, she stays primarily with broad themes. Maybe that will change.

In the eyes of many, Ryan has gone from near-Hero to near-Zero in the last month, by standing behind the Boehner Bill, yet always sure to say that he thought “cut Cap and Balance” was a better solution.
They’re apparently going to have to try to promote him as a candidate by playing on some cryptic insider/outsider omniscience that only he possesses, having seen the budget
“from both sides now”.
Ryan is a Catholic, has a 100% voting record with the National Right to Life Committee and is a strong advocate of DOMA. He is not going to throw social conservatives under any bus.
Sure why not. At the rate we are going pretty soon every GOP voter will have their very own personal GOP presidential candidate.

Paul Ryan should stay in the House and accomplish something first. On what basis do we know he has what it takes to run an administration? I’ll stick with Sarah Palin.
I can't get really excited about either of the top tier candidates of the RINO wing, Romney and Perry, though either might do reasonably well in a cabinet job which had nothing to do with socialized medicine and open borders, respectively.
Best of all, while I can't see the RINO/Country Club wing of the party getting overly excited about a Paul Ryan candidacy, I can't see them pulling out the long knives for him either. His position on social conservatism are solid, but not so outspoken as to attract the ire of Country Club set. His position on economic issues are sensible as well as salable.
He has a compelling life story and experience to boot! This is a rare combination which appeals to about 40% of the electorate which votes with their brains, and another 40% which votes with their feelings.
