It’s a shame Wallace got dumped from the ticket in ‘44. He would have been obliterated as the rat nominee in ‘48. That is if we could have avoided him turning the country into the USSSA in the meantime. Or a vassal state of the Japan Empire.

I'm glad he never became president. He might have decided to invade Japan rather than drop the atomic bomb just so the US would be too weak to prevent the Soviets from dominating Europe.

Everyone gives props to Truman for dropping the bomb but it was really the only sensible thing to do. Saved countless lives. I think conservative estimates were that an invasion of Japan could have killed a million allied soldiers. And many more Japaneses. I think they gave civil defense training even to housewives and old people. It's too bad we didn't string up the Emperor with the other war criminals.
