Here is a live blog link to the SJ Mercury News about the protests. Two BART stations have been closed.

Why?
A few more than that now. Quite a few more!
This is a short explanation. There are many news articles about the original protest earlier this week.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2011/08/bart-shut-down-protest.html
“People were angry that the transit agency cut underground cellular phone service for three hours last week in an effort to quell a protest over alleged BART Police brutality and the shootings of Charles Blair Hill and Oscar Grant by transit police.”
How do you spell Murderers? SFPD!
What a chant! It must be heaven to live in San Fran! /S Heavy
Because they are all a bunch of leftist jackasses.

One protester at the Civic Center station, holding an old-fashioned phone with the cord cut, repeated over and over, “Can you hear me now?” Others held sings that said “free speech” and “free expression,” chanted slogans and wrote messages on heart-shaped construction paper.
Shalana Turner held a sign that said, “You can jail the revolutionary, you cannot jail the revolution.” She said, “I’m here in peaceful protest, to protest police brutality, attempts to restrict free speech.”
Nearby, a man named Robert, who refused to give his last name, said he was protesting the protest. The 48-year-old San Francisco resident had a sign reading, “Interrupted Cell Service = Giant Hissy Fit.”
“They are diluting their potential for doing something useful,” the man said of the protesters. “This is going after the ants. They need to go after the giants.”
