If any Freepers are heeding or listening to what either Ben Smith or Jon Martin are mouthing, then they are not Freepers!!! Both of these gentlemen are in the tank for failed POTUS Barack Hussein Obama as is their boss, Mike Allen. End of story!!!

“What a surprise, the liberal Politico likes the establishment candidate over the conservative. I’m shocked! “

Took the words right out of my mouth!

The GOP establishment, with its pro-Islamic, don’t rock the boat unless you have to, live along - go along philosophy with Democrats will not go quietly into the night. They will fight any grass-roots Tea Party candidate EVERY STEP OF THE WAY

That phenomenon is playing out right here on FR with the predictable and sudden Perry craze, a mirror repeat of the McCain fiasco of 2008.

Of course bachmann is lacking sleep after the recent IOWA and media grind, so maybe it’s an unfair comparison anyhow.

Maybe she had a migraine.

I agree with your analysis of Bachmann, but what worries me even more are the things being said about her husband’s profession of working to “ungay” people & calling young homosexual men barbarians. Doesn’t sound very much like a Christian to me.

What do you think of Saint Paul going to the pagan temples in Corinth, day after day haranging and challenging the temple prostitutes and their customers to knock it off with very strong words and pleas?

Is your idea of Christianity one where it is "anti-christian" to challenge and encourage sinners to renounce sin? Maybe your idea of what is anti-christian, is itself anti-christian?

Bachmann is charisma challenged.

I think you nailed it here. Perry is very charismatic and knows how to work a crowd. He is also a phony, but I suspect he can fool a lot of people.

I really haven’t seen enough of Perry to make a decision yet,

He is a very talented politician and disciplined campaigner.

Like most politicians, his results don't entirely match his rhetoric, but when it comes to campaigning there's a reason he's never lost.

My candidates are (in order):

(1) Anybody but Romney
(2) Anybody but Obama

I am not a Palin-bot (in case you missed my tagline).

If Bachmann gained the nomination, I would certainly vote for her as she would be head and shoulders over the current occupant, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have serious reservations about her at the moment.

She is, as I said, charisma deficient. The choir loves her, but she doesn’t have the ability to pull non-choir members into the fold.

I have concerns about her attendence at Oral Roberts University. Bluntly (imho) Oral Roberts was a heretic. The prosperity gospel he taught is not the same gospel your local baptist church preaches.

I have concerns about Bachmann’s relationship with John Eidsmoe. He was one of her law professors at ORU. She helped with one of his books. She has said he is one of her biggest influences (literally a mentor to her). He has also been disinvited from speaking at several tea party rallys recently, becuase it has come to light that he is linked to several racists organizations.

Eidsmoe is, imho, the potential ticking time bomb. When a tea party group disinvites someone because of racist ties, you can’t just chalk it up to the left calling everyone racist. If there’s a problem here and we better get a handle on it now rather than later.

Ha ha! My description is more tactful, but I'm not expecting an award!

Bigg Red: Perry is very charismatic and knows how to work a crowd.
Crichton: He is a very talented politician and disciplined campaigner.

Bigg Red: He is also a phony, but I suspect he can fool a lot of people.
Crichton: Like most politicians, his results don't entirely match his rhetoric, but when it comes to campaigning there's a reason he's never lost.

RE: John Eidsmoe

He will be to Bachmann what Jeremiah Wright was to Obama. The difference will be this -— THE MEDIA WILL NOT LET UP ON THIS RELATIONSHIP UNLIKE WRIGHT, WHERE THE MSM PRACTICALLY IGNORED IT ( someone from DU might even be reading this thread even now ).

For those who don’t kow Eidsmoe... here’s a brief background:

John Eidsmoe is an attorney and a professor of constitutional law and related subjects at the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, Faulkner University, Montgomery, Alabama, and previously taught at the O. W. Coburn School of Law at Oral Roberts University.

He served in the US Air Force as a Lt. Colonel and is an Alabama State Defense Force Colonel, Headquarters Judge Advocate, Deputy Chaplain and Training Officer.

“When Biblical law conflicted with American law, Eidsmoe said [in a 2011 interview], O.R.U. students were generally taught that ‘the first thing you should try to do is work through legal means and political means to get it changed.’” In his 1987 book Christianity and the Constitution, Eidsmoe wrote that America “was and to a large extent still is a Christian nation,” and that “our culture should be permeated with a distinctively Christian flavoring.”

Eidsmoe has stirred some controversy in his outside lecturing. In 2005, he spoke to the national convention of the Council of Conservative Citizens and in 2010 he addressed an event commemorating Alabama’s Secession Day where he told an interviewer that it was Alabama’s “constitutional right to secede,” and that “Jefferson Davis and John C. Calhoun understood the Constitution better than did Abraham Lincoln and Daniel Webster.”

In April, 2010, he was disinvited from a Tea Party rally in Wausau, Wisconsin, because of these statements and appearances.[2][4] Eidsmoe said in 2011 that he deeply despises racism, but that he will speak “to anyone.”

Congresswoman and presidential candidate Michele Bachmann has described Eidsmoe as “one of the professors who had a great influence on me”, “a wonderful man”, and “absolutely brilliant.” She worked for him while a law student at Oral Roberts as a research assistant on Christianity and the Constitution. In 2011, he said he felt Bachmann’s views were in agreement with those taught at ORU and expressed in his book that she worked on.

While I understand your point, personal charm (the ability to connect with people) does have a lot to do with getting elected. Just look at Zero.

Eidsmoe actually publicly stated that he despises recism. However, he is personally sympathetic to the rights of states to secede ( defending the right of Alabama for instance to secede ).

He believes that Jefferson Davis understood the constitution better than Abe Lincoln.

This issue alone is going to come back and haunt Bachmann were she to be the nominee.

She will be asked the question : “Do you favor the right of any state to secede from the USA?”

Now I’d like to listen to her answer to that question.

Here is a video of John Eidsmoe at an “Alabama Secession Day” celebration.

http://cwmemory.com/2010/02/21/remembering-alabamas-secession-and-lincoln-bin-laden/

Note the person Pat Godwin who appears in the video. She is the organizer of the Alabama Secession Day event, and has this in her background:

In 2000 she erected a statue of Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forest in Selma, AL. One of the guys that founded the KKK.

She’s described by a local newspaper as “a known Selma White Supremacist”

http://greenecountydemocrat.wordpress.com/2010/09/16/selma-al-city-council-president-pro-tem-cecil-williamson-accused-of-being-white-supremacist-and-secessionist/

The same Particia Godwin wrote the article below:

http://www.gulftel.com/firstfreedom/68.htm

Some qouotes from the article (I do not recommend opening this at work).

“The Civil Rights movement is not just a Birmingham/Selma/Montgomery, Alabama problem. It is a universal problem.”

“...I witnessed the trash that came here in 1965. In 1965, and for a few years thereafter, the people of Selma, Alabama were willing to tell the truth about this “Mother of All Orgies”… but now, the scalawag/carpetbaggers see $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in the civil rights movement! They don’t even realize they are aiding and abetting the ultimate goal of the One World Order – to brown AmeriKa and annihilate our Anglo-Celtic-European culture!”

The link at the bottom of the page links to this site:

“Nation of Aryans Against Commie Putrefaction”

If you’ll take the time to do some searches on both Godwin and Eidsmoe you’ll notice their names appear together a lot. In particular, he speaks at a lot of “confederate” or “southern” events where she is listed as one of the organizers, and this seems to go back a number of years.

I’m not sure the “I hate racism, but I’ll speak to anybody” cover will work in this instance when the “speak to anybody” is a pattern of repeately speaking to these kinds of groups over a several year period.

We have to unseat Obama. The one, single mistake we can’t make is setting him up to play the race care one, last time. We have several good candidates that could beat Obama (I’m convinced that even Ron Paul could bet Obama in a head-to-head matchup this time around). No single candidate is so valuable that we can’t do without them. If someone has a potential fatal flaw that might hand the win to Obama, then we need to look at it pretty hard.

You & I will never agree on this b/c I do not believe that a homosexual is either a sinner or a barbarian. Nor do I believe that your comparison of prostitutes & homosexuals is logical. BTW. . .just curious. . .what do you think of the Log Cabin Republicans. . .and Lynne & Dick Cheney’s daughter, Mary ? All sinners & barbarians as well ? I will have no further comment except to say that you & Marcus Bachmann would seem to have a lot in common.

Yeah, did you watch the Iowa event? I did. And it’s true. She did keep people waiting. They announced her at least twice before she finally entered the room in what looked like the type of scene you see at a presidential state of union. It was odd and Politico isn’t the only media that noted it.

The crowd gave Perry a standing ovation at the end of his speech and only polite applause for the winner of their straw poll. She had supporters there obviously since she won, so there had to be a reason they didn’t stand for her. And I think it’s because of the optics of the way she presented herself that night.
