A brave police dog whose skull was fractured when thugs threw bricks, bottles and petrol bombs at him during the riots continued to patrol the streets for two hours, despite blood dripping from his head. ... PC Wells, who has cared for Obi since the dog was just an eight-week-old puppy, described he and his dog came under siege by remorseless thugs who deliberately targeted his 'best friend and closest colleague'. ... PC Wells said he was shocked at the violence that flared, which left all of the eight dogs in his unit on Tottenham High Road with cut pads on their paws from the broken glass and debris on the street. ... Some suffered severe cuts and broken teeth.

Excellent,Obi won!
Two hours? Why didn’t his handler note his condition and get him to the vet?
“Initially he was a bit shocked but I gave him a check-over and tried to avoid any further injuries and after the initial shock he seemed fine so we carried on for another couple of hours.”
It was not until later Obi showed signed of needing veterinary help.
This happens with people sometimes. In high school I tore everything there was to tear in one ankle, but walked on it until I got home. Once I removed my shoe the symptoms began.
IMHO, the cops were the toothless half of the teams, weak in tactics and use of weaponry. Armed citizens and armed cops. A lot of rioters should have ended up dead. That would have scared off many other perps.
Thanks for the clarification. It pays to read the article before commenting! I let my emotions get away from me.
Great post. Glad Obi’s doing better. On the bright side, it looks like the thugs involved in the rioting are going to lose state ‘benefits’. Losers aren’t going to riot if it means the monthly check stops coming...
“... in high school, I tore everything there was to tear in one ankle...”
My son did something very similar! He cracked his foot on some weights and told me that he thought it was sprained. He limped a bit but didn’t complain much. (this was a Friday). I picked him up on Monday (after school) and his foot was very swollen. I took him to the E.R. and the x-rays showed two separate fractures in his foot. The E.R. doctor asked me why I didn’t take him to the hospital earlier. What can I say? Sometimes you don’t really know that something isn’t as minor as it appears.
I guess the dog didn’t get the message that London police were supposed to stand by and do nothing, other than make sure shop owners couldn’t defend themselves.
He has such kind, wise eyes. Glad this handsome lad is going to be ok!

Humans could learn much from dogs’ keen and accurate sense of property rights.
Good Obi!
Bad Mitch! Bad Mitch! :-)
OMG!!!
He is soooo beautiful!!!!
Just precious..and fearless.
Those cops are so stupid over there, now they got upset cause we volunteered to send some of our riot police over there to teach them about riot control.
