Custom fit does sound best.

I try to carry everywhere.

I gotta admit, I tend to carry a smaller gun so that its unseen.

Tom is asking now about what do yo do in an intimate situation?
This is a big deal in church. What do you do to keep folks from freaking at the church dinner when they give you a hug?

Can’t do a 12ga. I’ve shot my dad’s M1 and loved it but was just wondering on comparisons.

I love that idea.

I think Keltec invented it

BTW, I am glad to report that glocks withstand baptismals very well.

I wouldn’t recommend any rifle for home defense.

I would rule out .223 due to over penetration.

I think the M1 carbine is a very useful close quarters gun. I like 12 gauge. Still, that 44 mag sounds like a show stopper.
I just worry about over penetration, in a close quarters environment.

CC is new to me. I've been carrying my .38 Special derringer in my rear pocket behind my leather checkbook. The checkbook keeps the gun from printing through my pocket and also keeps it from being seen from the top of the pocket.

However, come winter, I'm gong to start experimenting with different holsters to carry my 9mm or even one of my 4" barrel .38 revolvers.

(Of course this is until I can get my CZ82. It sounds like I may need to get the wife something before I make another purchase for myself. I think she's caught the bug.)

Even though it was a cheap gun, this one has a very solid half-cock position. It also has a very long pull on the hammer to go to full cock. Just for good measure, they even gave it an extremely hard trigger pull (no trigger guard). However, despite the hard trigger pull, I've practiced enough with it that I can shoot it pretty consistently. Of course, it's definitely a “belly gun”. Best for ranges of 5-10 feet away.

I guess I am not that familiar with the platform.

So long as it has a solid safety you are good to go.

Okay, the thing is, when I get back from Australia I'll be staying at my folk's place which is on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. We have six acres of heavily wooded property with about maybe less than an acre of residential space. There are woods all around, and, the property is 600ft. up the side of a mountain. I'm not worried about over penetration. I'm interested in stopping power. I can't handle a 12ga. and the carbine is my dad's so I want my own. I've looked at the Ruger .44mag and the mini-14. It' looks like I'm leaning towards the .44mag which I think I can handle.

To give you an idea of what the area looks like visit: www.drdale.com

- the camera is pointing right across the Hood Canal at the area where I live.

Wait, you’re a chick? That would have been important info.

.223 semi auto rifle is too long, too loud and too hard to conceal.

You want a semi auto 9mm, it won’t jump out of your hand like .44 mag, it’s high capacity and you can conceal it.

Oh I have been there.. Lovely country.

Sounds like you don’t have to worry about hitting stray neighbors. It’s gonna knock down a bear if it has to.

Still I am not familiar with the .44 mag.

I suppose it makes all the sense in the world up there.

Best regards
