Rick Perry says he hopes to earn Tim Pawlenty's endorsement
Los Angeles Times ^ | August 14, 2011 | Maeve Reston

.......Perry, who served with Pawlenty on the executive council of the Republican Governors Association working to elect more Republican governors across the country, said they had traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan together and "spent a lot of quality personal time."

"He is one of my favorite governors out there, not only because of what a Republican governor did in a pretty blue state, but also in a personal way. He is one of the funniest guys I've ever been around in my life and I just love him," Perry said, adding that they often "joke and poke each other."

Perry said he and Pawlenty spoke by telephone Sunday morning, and the former Minnesota Governor said he was going to go home and rest up, take his daughter off to college and "clear his head a little bit."

On the phone, Perry said he'd told Pawlenty, 'Daggonit… I was looking forward to getting out there and jousting with you.'".........

I agree that Bachmann’s win was a huge victory for the TP.

Unfortunately, straw polls don't mean a hill of beans in the long run.

Didn’t McCain do a bus tour before Palin was even known? Straight-talk express. Wasn’t that 2000, when Palin was still Mayor of Wasilla? And isn’t a bus tour just an update of the old whistle stop tours that go back 100 years?

And don’t you find it amazing that everybody, including Bachmann, Obama, and now Perry, are trying to imitate Sarah Palin’s bus tour???

Or maybe that this is what national campaigns do? I respect the hell out of Palin, but she's not the first candidate to use a bus for a campaign. I don't feel like hyperlinking, so here are some links.

Thank you! now if a candidate got a reality show on TLC and let their kids on DWTS, I’d get suspicious.

I’m sure he’ll eventually have endorsements from Pawlenty, Bachman AND Palin. I saw Rubio had started a PAC to increase his national profile. Looks like he’s looking for the VP spot.

I’m sure he will get it because the reason he is in is to stifle Bachman’s chances.

Never worked at a fast food joint. Or a pizza joint. I’m sure if I had, I’d be presidential material, though.

fwiw, it’s good to see that Pawlenty has the good sense to know when it’s time to withdraw. He should give Newt some pointers. Although, I think Newt knows what he’s doing, and it’s NOT trying to be president. It’s glomming free air time and self-promoting. His area of expertise.

Sounds like Perry/Pawlenty is a possibility. What do you think?

Exactly my first thought. After hearing RINO Tim’s stance on the issues, Perry can have him!

I agree.

Newt’s smart but he’s become bitter and it shows.
