I don’t think he really thinks he could win, but he really wants people to pay more attention to national security.

Unfortunately, in order to be invited to the debates you have to have a certain percentage in the polls. (That’s why McCotter wasn’t in last Friday’s debate.)

I imagine that being apprised of that rule is why he hasn’t yet entered. I do think that while the economic stuff is incredibly important, national security (and our lack thereof under Obama) is even more important. And no one is talking much about it.

That is why I resented so much of the debate last Friday concentrating on social issues and gotcha questions. If the economy collapses and the Chinese take over, we won’t be worrying about gay marriage or abortions. We will be worrying about people being gunned down in the street, either by roving gangs of thugs (see London) or our new Chinese overlords.

Not doubting you for a second, but I never noticed either of those mentioned in the Iowa straw poll threads. Do you know if the info is online anywhere?

Why are you helping spread the “Gov. Goodhair” thing. Whether you like him or not, he could be the Republican candidate. I don’t think we should give the left ammunition on any of the potential candidates.

I watched Rep. Bachmann and I have been watching her for a while. I still see her diverting all the questions back to a couple of rehearsed sound bite answers. To the extent that she moves the question to her comfort zone and doesn’t get rattled like she has in the past, I guess she gave a good interview.

The Iowa straw vote is more about organization and money. It helps to thin the herd. Romney, as the leader in the polls, was smart not to participate as was Perry and maybe Palin. No need to waste time, money, and standing when you already have a high poll standing. The winner of the straw poll has really not won much. South Carolina will be a better test for all the real candidates.

I wonder if Newt and Cain will drop out. Paul's cult like following and money will keep him in until the end more than likely. He is not running for reelection so he will pursue the nomination full time.

Exactly right. If you are not supporting Perry, then say something like “I disagree with his policy on such-and-such and think Candidate X would be a better choice.”

No derogatory nicknames for ANYONE running. When we do this we are playing into the media template.

They are going to twist every candidate’s words and policies such that we will be set against each other. DO NOT FALL FOR IT!

We are supposed to be a rational party, not swayed by emotion. I know that is often difficult, but PLEASE folks, try to remember that our goal is getting the best candidate to DEFEAT OBAMA!

Hey Fish,
Our Wu Who special election is just beginning and sadly we do not have a Tea Party candidate yet. Unfortunately there are rumors the Tea Party has been trashing the Country Club candidate but not putting up one yet.

I don’t know why we would have to trash each other when the real enemy is ohbummer and there is plenty of targets there. I hope it doesn’t become a food fight on our side.

I walked with the Country Club candidate in the local parade yesterday simply to show unity and civility. He’s a great guy just not very well versed in his Conservatism. If we take this race in liberal Oregon the nation will be shocked.

We have began organizing our area and got a few more volunteers last week and are beginning to knock doors.

Pray for America

Bachmann is learning the lesson of all successful political candidates—stay on message. I am just starting to listen to her MTP interview.

A forgotten nugget is that one of the main up sides for Rep. Bachmann’s bringing on Rollins was he would bring a lot of Huckster's Iowa organization with him. This may or may not have panned out. So I don't know the extent to which the Bachmann campaign actually had to “build an organization”. It remains to be seen if this effort in Iowa translates into organizational support elsewhere. She still has a limited name recognition and may still be viewed as a regional candidate.

Bachmann has more national recognition than you might think. She started the Tea Party caucus in Congress and has been engaged in leading the repeal of Obamacare.

I will give you that one, but her “message” needs more depth.

David Gregory demeans Ms. Bachmann precisely because
Gregory’s wife is lawyer for Fannie Mae/FreddieMac.
When Ms. Bachmann targets Frank-Dodd and the idiots
in Congress, snarky Gregory begins his attack from
the DNC and HIS wife’s checklist.

David Gregory READS (yes reads) from a New York Times
blog as purporting it represents America, and will not
let the candidate get a word in.

Journalism?

NBC should be ashamed of itself.
Nah, that’s not possible.

Her message will get more depth the further into the campaign. Now, she needs to put forth a few, strong messages and say them over and over again.

I notice that Gregory admonished Bachmann for not interrupting him and then he proceeds to interrupt her incessantly.

Frankly, I wish this debt raising were more specific.

We have to raise it because the Democrats in congress and the White House overspent the budget and are borrowing more to pay for their programs and special interests. Which is specifically why we have to elect people who will cut the spending and those trying to buy votes. From either party.
