10% that are genuine.

What's genuine mean in this context? Does this mean that they'd have to cut back on some of their non-essential spending? Does this mean that they're upside down on their car note? Or does it mean that they'll absolutley starve to death if they stop receiving stolen goods welfare from the government. I'm pretty sure that it isn't the last possiility.

A few questions if you don't mind. Since you know these people, how many hours a week in total does their family work? Do they have dogs or cats? How old are their car(s). Do they ever eat out? I;m trying to establish a baseline to define EBT card qualification

I think it is enough for me, a solid conservative hand-up not out type of person, to say that these people actually need the assistance. In one case, the mother went to the foodstamp office when (after working 3 jobs) she made it out of her circumstances and informed them she no longer needed their help. She said they were amazed. They’d never had anyone honest enough to come do that before.

But as to what happened to cause the need or whether she had animals, I wouldn’t dream of dragging her reasons for the need out, whether I named names or not.
