People are going nuts over Perry's alleged amnesty plan and weakness on border security. It's a smear campaign against him. See for yourself. http://foxnewsinsider.com/2010/09/22/governor-rick-perry-on-the-report-of-a-new-amnesty-plan-for-illegals/
Other sources: This year in Texas legislature -- "Although immigration laws and their enforcement are the responsibility of the federal government, we cannot compound their failure by preventing Texas peace officers from doing their jobs, Perry said. http://www.pro8news.com/news/local/Perry-Prioritizes-Enforcement-On-Immigration-Laws-113544214.html
And another: Until America secures the border, a rational debate on immigration policy is not going to happen. (El Paso Times, July 10, 2010)
If this amnesty BS is the worst his enemies can present, well, I'd say we've got a President Perry 2012.
Perry/Rubio 2012!!!

Perry and Rubio are both RINO sellouts and squishes on protecting our borders and enforcing our laws.
They are just Juan McShamnesty in younger and prettier faces.

I must say I expected better. You only screached "RINO" once! Keep it up. Maybe one day it'll stick.

Well I know Alaska receives $1.80 in Federal dollars to every $1.00 they chip in. Texas gets .94 cents.
Texas has no state income tax Every Alaskan receives around 1,500 a year because of Conservative stalwart governors tax on oil companies (but not fishing or logging industries.
Alaska has a very long border with Canada. Texas has a very long border with Mexico.
Wait until Palin runs, she will somehow fix it all because she understands how to run an economy on windfall profit taxes and Federal welfare. Texas borrows money just to build roads and then pays it back in a few years.
Wait she ran a state with 700 thousand people in it who roll around in federal dollars while Perry runs a state with 24 million and is a donor state and must protect 60% of the U.S. border basically on it's own.

Trey, I must agree with you here: Perry’s another RINO.
I laughed when somebody I know called him “Mitt South”
To: DRey
I’m on board a Perry/Rubio ticket, but I think maybe Rubio needs to keep his seat in FL.
How about Perry/Santorum?

Normy, the border thing is Democrat propaganda ~ all you need is a major naval base or a whopping chunk of border on the Pacific, Atlanta or Gulf and you get a major federal addition to the supposed state benefits.
We Conservatives don't dwell on that since we see the big picture and understand these things.

It has just started... Perry will be hit with punches reminiscent of the Ali/Frazier fight. He cannot defend against some of the things that he promoted and signed. BTW... check out the cost difference between a person from Louisiana going to UT versus an illegal mexican invader... an illegal who can get housing allowances and health care costs supplements... that's right... discounts for illegals.. all other Americans from out of state pay more... and it gets better... an AMERICAN from out of state goes without the additional perks of being an illegal alien.

I’ll vote for the Republican, whoever it is. That’s the only way we’ll be sure to beat Obama.

The incident that I felt so burned by Perry was here in TX back during his ‘06 re-election campaign. He made such a big deal about getting tough on the illegals problem, and putting cameras up on the border. But a few days after winning the election, the cameras were turned off, and the whole issue was dropped. Really grated on me. Made me feel like a fool, believing him.
Perry undeniably has some good points going for him, and I don’t really consider him a total RINO, in the way the term is really defined. But that thing with the border cameras really irritated me about Perry, and even though I again gave him my vote last year, I just don’t fully ‘trust’ him. He’s still light-years better than Romney, obviously, and I think he does have the fighting spirit to indeed go after Obama, but I doubt I’ll have much (if any) enthusiasm towards him if he winds up nominee.

Well said.
It’s laughable comparing Palin governing 2 years of 700,000 Alaskans and Perry governing 10 years of 24 million Texans with the border issues they have to deal with.

It's a relative thing. On the heels of Obama, he does appear to have a halo and bring to mind a second coming of Reagan. But don't worry. It'll either wear off, or you'll become a believer, too. ; D

The greatest good a fine patriot like Perry can do is to withdraw immediately and call for the candidacy of Sarah Palin. This is about life and liberty, not ambition and good intentions.
